    Default excel 2003 document

I work with files on your computer. Now, I cannot now open the file. When you try to open a window gives "This file is not in a recognizable format."

I work in Excel 2003 to Windows XP.

Who faced such a problem and how to solve it?

    1. Locate the file as you have described above
    2. Right click the file
    3. Select Open with from the pop-up menu
    4. Click Choose default program…
    5. Select Excel in the Recommended Programs box
    6. Check Always use the selected program to open this kind of file
    7. Click on OK.

If that doesn't work, you should try out these file association repair tools, especially the EXE one:

Beyond that, you'll need to look into reregistering Excel or repairing/replacing your Windows User Profile as it may be corrupted.

Microsoft's Excel Viewer is always a free download.

I sidestep Microsoft compatibility issues by using OpenOffice. It can import any MSOffice document format, it can export any MSOffice document format ... solves a lot of problems, lol.
