    Default flat/vampire style molex connectors?

I was just thinking about cable management and I had a thought.. are there any flat style molex connectors?

Kind of hard to explain what I'm visualizing. The best example I can think of is like an old IDE cable, where your cable runs flat through the connector rather than coming in then back out.

    Look at this:

Note how the middle connector just kind of clamps on over the cable? I was thinking about the same thing for molex 4pin connectors. It would make cable management a lot neater because you wouldn't have essentially two wires coming out of each pin on the connector.

Like see how on the 4-pin molex connector, there's two wires coming out for each pin:

I'm wondering if there's anything out there that mounts them flat to the connector and has a single wire running down through each connector.

here's a quick MSpaint drawing of what I mean:

on the left is the way it's done now, and on the right is what i'm talking about.

Has anybody seen anything like that before, or should I start working on drawing up some designs? I already have an idea of how it would be possible.

I don't know that I've seen any, but it shouldn't be hard to find a plastic cap for the back of the molex, and then just put holes on the sides of where the wires go in, and thread them through with the cap on top.

well i'm talking about something more akin to a vampire connector, that way it's just got the one wire and it taps off the feed.

After a little more googling I found exactly what I'm talking about:

note the middle two connectors, where the wire runs through the connector rather than being a Y split at the pin.

Perfect, found a site that sells them here in the US. and for only $0.59/connector! I may very well be doing some custom molex work soon

also i don't know why i posted this in tech talk, but it's fixed now and in a more appropriate section for other people looking for this info.

Just gonna go straight black, though I may do blue. Depends how I feel. I wanna do some of those individually sleeved wires and I think having 90-degree molex connectors would make it look super clean.

Definately going to run my own, i'll just make the adapter for it so i can run my little pigtail thing behind the mobo tray and hook it in to the PSU. That way it's completely removable but I still get my super clean looking connectors but I don't end up hacking my PSU wiring up. And also I can buy wires of whatever color I want so if/when I sleeve them, there's no red or yellow poking through.

I may very well do a guide on this too, who knows.

You should be able to, but if not you can always RIT dye them black. As long as you get a decent gauge wire (what do PSUs use, 14 gauge?) you should be fine.
