    Default Inverted ATX Mod

I've been meaning to try something out. I have this old case that I want to convert from ATX to Inverted ATX. All I'll have to do is flip the back plate of the case so that the motherboard will sit on the left.

    I pulled the rivets out

    Then detached the back

I also removed the removable motherboard support beam

I flipped the back over and re-attached it with new rivets.

    And here you go.

Then I put the motherboard tray with a dead mobo still attached (For the look)

    And reinstalled the support beam.

I put the future Power Supply in so you can tell where I'm going with this.

For this project I will be using some old mesh I've had laying around.

I'm still working on the case theme, but I do a have a pretty good idea.

    nice start
I have an old AT case I was thinking about turning into a BTX. You've inspired me.

cool Idea, I had occasionally wanted my psu at the bottom (but with intake drawing from under case through a filter), but in a show of pure DUHness never thought to flip that whole area and just redrill the mount. So thank you for that, might actually have to do it one day now

will the ram interfere with your btx schemings?
I know you said this is not the board you are using, but that is a fairly common atx placement.

am now waiting with baited breath to see how this comes about.

cool new project.. i have a couple of Qs/suggestions:
    1. will it be trully btx? e.g the duct running from the front?
2.how much are you willing to reconstruct the case? e.g.: it coulod use 120mm fans in the front and back.. but this involeves some cutting...
3.what will u put in there? because if you do it all-out on cooling, i'm thinking o/c?

ah... did i say this is a "cool" idea?

    NO duct.

I will construct a shield over the bottom sucking the hot air out of the front. So obviously, there'll be a blow hole on the front, probably 80mm. No idea of the color of the case or any real theme.

The case, like many others will be built as just a case. I will put parts in it to get some 'computer' shots, but when I'm done it will stay empty.

Today I worked on the heat shield. This will ensure that air sucked in through the blowhole will make it to the PSU and back out the case.

It took about a half hour to get it ready

lolz I still have Micron case from 1996. But its Plastic and aluminum. It is the skinniest case I've ever seen. Check it out in the trading post.

I marked some hole for rivets. They will hold the heat shield in place.

    And set them.

As of right now I'm thinking of a blue case. Maybe some white or silver later on.
