    Default Linux Distro Help

Ok, so I have Ubuntu and Mandriva One 2007. Neither work on my computer. I know why Ubuntu won't, but I can't figure out why Mandriva won't. Mandriva has support for Intel ICH8 (Not Ubuntu) and C2D. I can't find any hardware incompatibility issues. EXCEPT, my SATA HDD. I think that is where I am having issues. Linux doesn't like SATA HDD's, does it? Is there a workaround to get Mandriva on my system?

Or, are there any n00b friendly distros that have a Live CD and work on SATA HDD's?

I was looking on the Ubuntu Forums, and apparently there isn't a solution. Intel ICH8 just isn't supported by the kernel yet. I got Mandriva to work on a different computer, and it's nice. I really like it. I only got to play around with it for like 5 minutes, but from what I've seen, KDE is nice. But I still like Gnome better.

Edit: Here is some of the error I get at startup.

    Code:
SQUASHFS error: unable to read superblock
mount: error 22 mounting squashfs flags ro
well, retrying without the option flags
    bio too big device loop0 (2 > 0)
SQUASHFS error: sb_bread failed reading block 0x0
SQUASHFS error: unable to read superblock
    mount: error 22 mounting squashfs
well, retrying read-only without any flag
    bio too big device loop0 (2 > 0)
SQUASHFS error: sb_bread failed reading block 0x0
SQUASHFS error: unable to read superblock
    mount: error 22 mounting squashfs
    pivotroot: pivot_root (/live/union,/live/union/initrid) failed: 2
If anyone can help and wants all of the message, I will post the rest.
