Default new motherboard case too small

Im a neophyte to this so please excuse me..I recently bought a new motherboard and have an old gateway case..the motherboard is too big but could fit i think if tweaking was involved. w x d is 8.2 x 11.5..

the case is a gateway essential model #OBS REMAN BTO 466C BRYANT

would it be possible to modify to fit the motherboard?

Well... yer.... Most modders here would say... O... pull it apart and alloy sheet it... But i take it your a noob correct?

Also buying a new case would means its future proof.... Enhanced cooling flow etc etc

Welll... i would wait for some more experienced modders to come on... Or even better yet... Have a open comp... Just lay it on ur desk with the fans blowing on certain areas until you have the cash... But i say wait a while DaveW might be on soon... He is very experienced as far as i know...

The last thing ya want to do is stuff a new mobo in an old case, especially if its the wrong size. Dells and Gateways had special motherboards made for them that may or may not conform to the standard form factors we are used to.

The worst that can happen is that you might short out the board and any component attached to it Or when ya go to slide in the CDROM drive you knock off a couple of capacitors from the motherboard because the depth of the case is too shallow.
