But does anyone know a site/store that sells grab bags of components ie leds resistors, capacitors etc.

In the UK, maplin does this. I think someone has said Radioshack do this in the US? I could be wrong.

Well, i'm British. We don't have Radioshacks. Just maplin, which is also very expensive.

yeah, i'd look somewhere other than radio shack. 10-15 years ago, that'd be different. but now they focus on selling cellphones + accessories instead of components for folks that want to do homebuilt stuff. very sad :\

amen.....radio shack suxxors nowa days. Even the cell phones and other gadgets they got, you can get cheaper elsewhere. I wouldnt be suprised if they go out of business in the next 5-10 years.
