I see what you mean. So there were no brackets supplied. With either the case or the HDD?
You can put it in the bay with the floppy drive fine.

no. thats where i put mine before i bought a case with brackets. btw you have a floppy permenantly installed? I only attatch it when i'm messing with the BIOS(updates), but thats usually a one time deal, then I never use it again.
You should be able to screw the HDD in the area I highlighted.
thats what i thought but my hd screw holes dont line up! im just putin' it next to the floppy...

Do I need to buy like a surge protector or something? is there anything i should consider buying?
surge protector is a must. UPS(look it up on newegg for explaination if you need) is another good thing to have but not needed nearly as much.
