    Default Plasma Ball PC

    Hi Guys:

I have been interested in making a Plasma Ball PC on and off over the years but have never really thought about doing it until a few weeks ago. Before jumping in, I tried to do a little research but only found a few cases of people really doing it and even then, most did not put the ball into the front of the case. Either the side, or top. I wanted mine to be a bit different - Right in the front for the WOW Factor...

Some people have said this could case damage to the PC itself. I don't think so from the tests I have done so far. And with that said, I would like to think that by placing the ball in the front, it keeps it away from the motherboard and CPU. The PCB which controls the ball sits in a thick plastic case itself so all being well, it should be OK.

I have seen some plasma ball cases and I own a plasma ball myself. It has stood next to my computer for months on end and I have never had a problem. One wierd thing though was with my old mouse, if I held the mouse and touched the plasma ball it used to issue the "left click" command. It was quite wierd but it happened everytime. Unfortunetly it doesn't work with my current mouse. I saw one particular plasma ball case mod a several of months ago. It can be found here. Very nice.
    There is no other choice.

Yeah I'm really happy with how it has turned out in the end... I have only seen the one you posted and one other which has been mounted in the front. So far, I too can report no problems with it affecting hardware...

The next mod is in the wings however I have to wait for the EPIA NL to be released lol... Then I can get started...
