Okay, so i have 2 old power supplys. Neither of which i really care about, but would like to do something with one of em.
Just to make it clear, it does NOT matter what i'm doing with it. I tried this on another power supply internally, and gave up from feedback from members saying that i shorted it in some way (FYI, i didn't)
So now i'm trying with this one. BUT i'm having the same problem. I need your guy's help, i'm stumped.
I'm trying to hotwire the power supply so that it works WITHOUT a motherboard (OR computer in any way)
Here's what i did, EXACTLY step by step:
1.) Plugged in the power supply
2.) Linked a wire from green on the ATX to ground on the ATX
3.) Turned on the power supply, it's active
4.) Took a pair of scissors and cut off the atx connector right at the connector.
5.) Took the green and ATX ground wire (now NOT attatched to the connector) and attached them together.
6.) Power supply turns on for a second, then turns off and remains off.
In order to get the supply working again, you have to detach and then reattach the green and ground wires.
Does anyone have ANY idea what's going on?
