Hello, TBCS! I'm a big time lurker, but I'd like to share my experience with you today. Around 3 PM EST I decided to do some cable management (inspired by friend).
I began by working on re-locating the power and IDE/SATA cabling for my three hard drives. I could not move any wiring behind my motherboard tray because the other door (and top) of my Antec Sonata II do not open without some permanent fixing.
Anyway, just as I was finishing up the cable management, I came into several minor problems. A pin for my 120mm power connector broke. A power wire for my IDE hard drive became stripped.
To top all of this, my computer wouldn't start. I began removing components and tried to boot with the bare minimum in (CPU, PSU, one stick of RAM, etc.). Props to Cool1Net6 for the help.
Well, after re-checking wiring and the PSU by plugging in the green/black to a paper clip, the PSU fortunately was not dead. I had a gut feeling it was the wiring to the power/reset buttons, but didn't know which one until I found this:
The negative pin had separated from the power button. I immediately thought "Oh, great. Guess I'll go buy another case" After some thinking and continual advice from Cool1Net6, I did some soldering and the button works just fine.
The final result (looks messy, but is a LOT better..trust me ):
Not bad for my second time soldering. As you can see, another rubber foot fell off the bottom of my case. I just stripped them all off and plan on modding some wheels since I have carpeting.
I tend to be clumsy, but get the job done. Cheers!
