    Dont you mean PSU???

    Drece:

went through and read again that you already have the system.. was thinking you were planning to buy ...

Have you looked at bios updates. I had some performance increases with my Motherboard. also check the hacks out. The Sound you are hearing is when system is loading the sound and its not able to keep up with what is on the screen.

i have gotten the latest update to my motherboard (v 7) and seems to still not want to do well on HL2. My friend showed me want my pc would be like if overclocked and it performed well on HL2 so i am thinking that something is causing a drain on performance. Would getting a sound card improve things maybe?

Look at the HL2 Tweeks and also look at getting a Audigy 2ZX. It might help you out by pulling the sound processing off the main CPU to its own device.

You should have enough power. unless you are using a 20pin plug into your Mobo. Yes the mobo can handle it but I know a friend of mine that did it. Had problems with heat / other issues with his setup (Close to mine but 3800+ proc).

i wouldnt worry about getting a high-end soundcard just so its not the onboard sound got a little off topic from 32/64 bit to half life 2 and why it runs slow there are lot of things it doesnt run smoothly, to name some: other processes in the background, drivers, half life settings, sound.

Sry, I am using HL2 as my benchmark I should have said in the beginning. I will have to continue my quest to find a 32-bit solution.
