Thread: Heatsink mounting.

  1. #1

    Default Heatsink mounting.

Awhile ago, I was given a prototype LGA775 heatsink to review. The thing literately warping the snot of my ASUS motherboard. Needed extreme force to mount it. So I'm thinking about getting rid of the stock-type plastic twist attachments and using something like threaded nuts and bolts or something. Anyone have any ideas here? Maybe springs for tension?

I can come up with something, but does anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like something that is very heavy... I don't know if I would keep a prototype heatsink in my case after the review is done.

Well, if you do replace the mounting mechanism with something else, don't forget to add a backplate to it. By the way, make sure the back plate isn't crushing anything like a micro SMD on the back of the motherboard.
