although it would also seem to be something that Microsoft could put the kibosh on pretty quickly, so you may not want to lose sight of that copy of your old OS just yet.
That means I would have to hope Microsoft doesn't fix it until after SP1.

And I think it will cost more to buy XP and then Vista Home Premium (Upgrade).

I'm with you man, i am however going to go back to it after i hear good things from SP1. If it's still not solved it's major issues by then... i dunno when it will.

I mean cmon, HDD issues with SATA? That's like saying it isn't compatible with dual core CPU's It just won't go with people who are considering buying vista.

All hope is now on SP1, everyone knows it, so does Microsoft. In the meantime all we can do is twiddle our thumbs.

A couple of friends have already got Vista and I told them I wouldn't get it for at least a year after it's release.
MS is know for putting out buggy operating systems and let the users find the problems.
I'll let everyone else be the guinea pig.

Thanks for the heads-up. I wasn't going to buy it for a year or so at least anyway, I need to get more RAM, and to do so, I have to sell what I have, and then buy another 2gb. My mobo has four slots for RAM, 2-184 pin and 2-240 pin, and it can only use one type at a time and only up to 1gb per slot, and I currently have 2-512mb DIMMs of 184 pin, and I can't run them dual-channel because they're not matching... but yeah, I've had enough recent problems to where I really don't need to have a faulty OS on top of them...

This is the same reason I waited until SP2 to upgrade to XP from Win98. Microsoft releases beta software to the general public and then waits for all the failures so they can fix it...

Heh, and the beta software isn't even free, it's like $100 and up.

You know i've never heard of people complaining about OS issues with mac's. Even tho there are new releases. Maybe this is because it's not entirely new but just an upgrade on an existing chunk of code, OR Mac know how to treat their customers....

Vista: I'm happy with Gentoo, thank you very much.

Though I'm with most of you guys, when SP1 or SP2 comes out, I'll upgrade, just because I'll want DX10 for my games.. though I'm not one who cares for buying software (but I will anyways..). F/OSS FTW!

    Vista: I'm happy with Ubuntu.

Has it's problems, sure, but they're well documented and the support and the system is free.

    £££ and hassle?

    I think not.

May go to Vista in a few years, but no sooner, let 'em get the bugs out and driver support up first.
