Thread: Project S.A.C.

    Default Project S.A.C.

Project All-in-one Swiss Army Computer (S.A.C.)

This is a project that will take me a long time (especially since it is being built right alongside my next to the PCG3 project), a bit of money, and a lot of input from the community.

The main goal of this is to put everything of what the computer user wants in a case.

So, my question is for you: What would you like to see in a case?

This is what I have so far:

I really need help with designing the Power splitter portion.

I'm a bit confused what you wan't the power splitter for (at least, y so accesable... but then again... y not?) I could probably help you there... only I'm too tire'd right now to think

you asked what i would like to see in a case (I'll make it somewhat feesable)

multi accessing disk thingy (something like this )

    a vending/pop mashiene

    maby a little hotplate

    cup holder (preferable heated/cooled)
    (like this)

and I'm too tire'd to think of anyting else... (that prooves how tire'd I am.)
I might beable to scetch up an idea to if you want (but it'll have to wait till tommorow...)

sometimes I feel lost... than I remember I'm not going anywhere.

Dont forget a pair of tweezers and a toothpick...

Im not sure how to mod a power strip into a case..But i like that cupholder idea. I tried to make one once before out of an old CD-ROM drive, with all the motor parts still intact so you could press a button and have it come out of the drive it worked but not very well. Id like to see someone actually pull it off.

Ohh how about a little refrigerated area to hold a couple cans of soda?

Built in speakers? Built in Mic?

    Built in monitor...

The built-in monitor will be a part of my next mod.
I will be dismantling my laptop to put it in a mid tower.
Man my mod ideas keep rolling!

Have an iPod, or Zune, something like that, that requires you plug it into the computer to charge? You could try what I'm doing, get an old CD drive, take out all the unnecessary stuff, but keep the motor, and make an internal dock that opens like a CD drive to reveal your device charging. Stealthy, and effective.

And about the laptop monitor, I wish you the best of luck.

    Any more conventional ideas?
Something to make it operate as a better computer.

well, if its supposed to be a swiss army computer...the ultimate LAN party machine...how about a compartment to stow a keyboard and mouse? or, if youre going to incorporate a router, how about a cable modem too?

-Attatch a UPS to the side (the vertical kind)
    -have a RAID array
-Use it as a wireless access point
-network your printer to it using the router
-Have a 'fan controller LCD thingy' on the front
    -fan filters and auxiliary fans
-A compartment with 'emergency supplies' (flashlight, extra mouse, etc)
-Add remote controllability (like a media center remote)

The Swiss cross will end up being bigger, but Sketchup was being a .
