you want the new keyboard with the commandpad? Does the new one have the port to plug it in?

Ok, Saitek has 2 keyboards, the gamer keyboard that comes with the command pad and is silver with blue backlight, and the Eclipse which is black with no command pad and the letters on the keys light up so you can see what key it is.

Yes, few people made use of teh command pad thats why Saitek chose not to include on in their new keyboard. I also have yet to use it. If Saitek made the command pad with a USB connector instead of a proprietary one requiring the keyboard to use it I think it would have been better.

I just ordered the eclipse. I should get it by Tuesday. I'll let you know what I think. I'm a big CS player, and I didn't need the command pad. I think the command pad provides more functinality for RTS players and the like. All my stuff is binded to the F keys

Well, I finally received the Eclipse keyboard today from Saitek. I'm not sure about posting pics, but if you google it, you'll be able to find some reviews with good ones.
Previously, I was using a Logitech Elite. I must say, that comparing the silence of the keys is like night and day. This thing is quiet and smooth. No chatter or key hangup at all. The lighting control allows for off, low and high settings, and there are volume and mute buttons. No software is needed, as Windows automatically detects it. The light coming through each character is remarkably clear, except towards the top due to pitch/angle. That said, it still is legible. The keyboard is rock solid and does not budge (due to oversized rubber feet) on the desktop. It also includes a 3 psoition wrist extender for comfort. The key pitch is alot flatter than most keyboards, allowing for the use of the height adjusting feet. Overall, as a gamer, I give it a 9/10. As a straight PC user, the price and lighting would probably lower this to a 7/10 ($55 for a keyboard can be a tough sell).
