    Default 8800 Ultra release.

I have a link for some Nvidian fanbois on this site.

The release of the 8800 Ultra is due this month. This link tells you a little bit more about the Ultra. Price range is aroung in the $800 not the $1K range. Sorta affordable for me atleast! Might get one but yet I can pay my mortgage with that money.

Anyway read on. They did some tests witht he OC'd EVGA 8800 GTX card. Does not look like the Ultra is that much improvement in performance BUT I am certain that if the Ultra was OC'd it would obliviate the OC'd GTX.

Anyway have fun reading because I did. Maybe an upgrade migh be good but then again I might SLI another GTX depending if the current GTX prices will drop or not.

I see this as a kind of pointless move by NV as the 8800gtx runs any game on the highest specs imaginable. If it was more of a performance jump out the box then I think this card would be justified but meh.

"The GeForce 8800 Ultra is basically a glorified, overclocked 8800 GTX graphics card with a slightly optimized PCB and core binning in order to bring power consumption to a lower level."

Yeah, it is kind of a waste of money... just OC a GTX, heck, you don't even have to it's not that much better of a card.. not worth the extra $200.

yes I do agree that the Ultra is a waste of money but maybe I can build two rigs. One with the Ultra and one with my current GTX.....hmmm gives me a really good idea!
