S.M.A.R.T would be an option in the BIOS.

Should it be enabled? If it already is, should I disable it?

    I forgot to mention...

came to my computer this morning, went through the routine of manual restart...

the desktop was a pastel blue... i checked the settings and it was in the "other" section which was very strange to me. Also, even though the "appearance settings" are set to "Windows XP Style" "Silver" color scheme...

the inner parts of a window, instead of being grey, they were a vanillaish white. o.O wtf?

I'll Photoshop some SS's to show you what it looked like. (I reapplied the settings it was set to and it changed it back).

Also, I'll post some SS's of the SpeedFan program.

Thanks guys for the help. I'm really lost of this one

Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology, or S.M.A.R.T., is a monitoring system for computer hard disks to detect and report on various indicators of reliability, in the hope of anticipating failures.

I would advise doing a registry scann aswell. Many problems arise from a F'd up registry.

WTF? There is no download link for speed fan on the download page... Do i have to register first?

haha, it took me a couple minutes to find too.

I'll run registry booster and see if it helps. I updated my graphics card drivers and it seemed to do the trick since reformat, but why it did it before, I still have no idea.

It's been doing it about 10 times a day now.

In the mornings, it will do it 4 or 5 times in a row, right when windows boots.

I dunno what to do? If I replace the HD, then I have no windows because in my gay HP, there is no disk...

help? any other ideas of what it could be? any ways to test it?

[EDIT] I just realized I completely messed this post up... haha. What I meant was, with my HP, the windows recovery disk is built in to the HD that is possibly on its deathbed.

You need this you do. Get a new hard drive, and use that to ghost your install onto it. Then get rid of the old hard drive and see what's up.

How did you reinstall if you had to reformat?
