Like a previous poster stated, use a ghosting program to ghost the exact image of the drive (OS partition and all) to a new hard drive.

I used Acronis' 15day trial to ghost my server hard drive to a faster drive.

worked flawlessly, and it is fully functional for 15 days. Also very self intuative.

thank you VERY much. I was about to drop 80 bucks in a few hours for Norton Ghost.

Ya, my pc, to reformat, you hit f10.

Because of this, would I just ghost my HP_RECOVERY (D? It's about 4gigs
hopefully it can stay on long enough to finish

took me a while to figure out... then I realized I forgot to move the jumper

After that everything went smoothly. Thanks for the tip on the trial program. Worked great.

I did get one error during the copy...

"Unable to read disk 1 sector 16513786"

I'd assume that's the part that died in the old HD but could this mess up anything since Apparently I didn't get that part of data. Everything seems to be running smoothly and faster.

I was looking at the mb and next to the heatsink, a line of those cylinder deals had dried/burnt looking stuff on the tops of them.

Can some1 recommend me a mb that is compatible. I hate to bother any of you but just posting this with the ss and all took 2 tries.

    ****!

Are the tops bulging? It looks like some are.

If they are, you have capacitor failure, and that is 90% likely to be causing your problem.

Are you good with a soldering gun/iron? If you are, you can replace them. If not, better plan for a new mobo.
