I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned Samsung yet. Go with them, I'm about to buy another for a second screen I'm so happy with the first.

I have a 20" dell 2007FP really nice. Good response, colour, contrast. Dell still sell them for £275 = $550 here in the UK ... I picked mine up new for £175 and its wonderful.

so here is the skinny get the samsung, but beware there are 3 different model within each model, S,A and C, Look hard to find an S panel they are made by Samsung and have by far the best color reproduction out there. The A panel is still a good panel but is blue dominant. The C panel is a price of crap. If you are in a dark room I would recommend the HP 22 but it has a shiny surface but the colors come through far better than the others.

How can you find the S panel? Well it more or less luck of the draw. I got mine by going into store after store and checking the display for the S on the back. Found one on display at the Best Buy asked if I could buy the display and they said sure. They got a new one down opened it up was an A panel they swichted it out and away I went with the S panel.

I'd go with the 22" samsung. I almost shat myself the first time I turned on my 20" It was the clearest, sexiest picture I've ever seen!

Especially if you're ready to spend 600 bucks or so, I'd get 2! *day dreams*
