Default Im stuck on these two

    ASUS Striker Extreme

    NVIDIA nForce 680i

    I'll be running:

    E6700
8800GTX (sli later down the road)

    and memory, I'm stuck between:

    OCZ Reaper HPC Edition

    OCZ Flex XLC

Just a note... this will be my first build so I'm pretty inexperienced in this area

EDIT: It will be used for gaming

Be mindful that it may limit your processor HSF selection.

Greco, have you seen this motherboard? Much cheaper for similar capabilities.

thats what i might go with if i don't get a striker. the striker board can fit the thermalright ultra120 extreme so it should fit most.

Ehhhh, not really. My eVGA has a similar layout as far as heatsinks go, and anything that is greater than 120mm (my guess) that isn't straight up like that heatsink is, isn't going to fit. My Blue Orb wouldn't even make it within 3/4 in. to the CPU. It's either tall heatsinks, or little heatsinks.

I was able to fit the Thermal Take Sonic tower on the Striker extreme with a little bit of room to spare and will probably be the cooler I use. That or another silent solution (not water _yet_).

Check out this custy work log for pictures of the Sonic Tower on both the Striker and eVga 680i.

    damn im nervous... haha.

I'm trying to build a pc that will last a few years and be error free as possible so I was looking into water cooling and the 8800gtx so i can run duals later down the road.

All the problems with these boards are freaking me out, especially because this will be my first build.

is there by chance a surefire setup to go with that will be FAST, low temp, overclockable, stable AND reliable?

^pretty much how i feel right now
