so it see the connection, but no internet... what's your setup, are you using a router? Or you just change the computer from the modem?
In one case r the other, try reseting your router and/or modem. It can be a problem with one of them
Edit: I had a problem once with 3 computers connected to a router. 2 of them had the same IP, so only one could be connect at a time. (And it was automatic IP address... shame on MS ) A reset solved everyting

well right now, i keep switching the ecable back and forth from my desktop(internet not working) to this laptop.
No router or firewall
Onboard NIC means that the network port is built onto the mother board. NIC is "network interface card".
Here's some help on Cox Cable. It's titled "Moving Cox internet service to another computer", but it's relevant to you, as it's a new motherboard, so essentially a new computer anyways.
*Edit* Good call Bucko.. I didnt think to mention that.

ok, let's troubleshoot it correctly:
1: BIOS = OK
2: Drivers = look ok cause the connection is shown
3: Firewall = no firewall (Have you diseable the windows one?)
4: Have you tried to repair the connection? (Get a new IP?)

It's a pretty much new hd because I reformatted right before the computer died completely so no SP2
I tried just clicking "repair" and it failed. then I tried ipconfig /release and cmd froze up for a couple min then said something i dont remember. Ill check really quick though. I did that before the new drivers so maybe that will make a difference.
