    Default Quick question about 3dmark

I noticed the fastest pcs always have their memory in slots "1 and 3" as opposed to 1 and 2. Is this because of the way their mobo numbers the slots on their mobo? or do they have each stick on a separate channel?

It's dual channel memory. Dual channel memory uses slots 1 and 3, or 2 and 4. You can put dual channel memory in slots 1 and 2, but it will run single channel.

So should I run it 1 and 3 instead? As of now they're set up like this:

    [l] [] [l] []
    .1..3..2..4

    should I run them like:
    [l] [l] [] []

like that guy is? I was taught my way is "correct" but if that guy has the fastest computer....... why would he set it up that way? Maybe 3dmark is reading his mobo wrong and his mobo reads:
    [l] [] [l] []
    .1..2..3..4

    ?

Do you have dual channel RAM? If you don't, it won't make any difference.

    yes, I have these

I just realized he doesn't. I dont get why anyone would drop all that money into a video card and cpu and then drop in a cheap mobo and ram lol. for w/e reason I guess he's doing it right considering he's the fastest.

So... your slots 1 and 3 are next to each other? Or wait, woah, damn, looks like mine are too.... I need to fix that....

Anyways, yes, that's what you want to do. Either 1 and 3 or 2 and 4, doesn't really matter.

And I don't understand what you mean about his mobo and RAM being crappy... Doesn't even say what it is....

Hey Greco, I was looking at my mobo, and it turns out we both had it right the first time. I read the manual, and it said that you put the sticks in the same colored slots (ie, both in blue or both in black).

And Spawn, I suppose it the DDR2-800 ones are better. They have lower timings, and can be OC'd to the speed of the other set.

On the real page, you can click the button "get it" and it will tell you what it is. But since we only have the snapshot to go by, we can only see the price.
