    Good question
The idea is to use a seperate motor to open the visor and not the DVD tray. I will use the microchips from the LCD-display for I/O with sensors and motors, so first the visor opens and if a sensor says that it's open the controller opens the DVD tray.

It might be a good idea to counter balance the visor with a small weight so you don't need a powerful servo. You could take a servo from an old optical drive, if it pushes a weight down at the back of the case that would make the front rise.

Nice mod so far Squelsh, as expected. You always come up with some out of the ordinary designs, +++rep man.

this is comming along nicely. Glad to see your still at it... I'm still confused as to how the water hinges are going to work and not leak. I'll just have to wait and see. +rep

    Hi altogether!

Unfortunately it didn't work out as good as I expected
Fortunately I leave later this night for my holliday, so I don't worry about computers for two weeks

The glueing I did today was not perfect because it was too hot (33 degree celsius, quite good for Germany).
    Well, here is the result:

The problem is the water duct inside the visor. It's not water-proof and so the water does not get up to the logo

Well, I have to fix this in two weeks.
Thanks all for watching and your tipps for the servo.
    See you,
    Squelsh

Been a while since I've posted, but this definitely caught my eye..

first off, this mode is very precise, you are dealing with spheres, which is tough to think about when compared to a normal box.

secondly, you are building, or have just built I should say, 45 degrees of a spherical window with water flowing through. VERY IMPRESSIVE. Even if your model has a manual opening, or NO opening at all just the fact that you build a homemade enclosure for water is awesome.

I'm looking forward to the rest of this mod, what do you use to render? It looks like you are using 3ds max + skylight for the high definition renderings... which is what I use ;D.

    Hey everybody!

No, this project is not dead
But I had important exams and then I've been on holidays. But now I am back working.

As you can read in my last post, the visor was glued together but the inner water-duct leaked. I spent some thoughts of tearing it apart again but then a new idea came to my mind:
I drilled some 2mm holes into the outer sphere along the water-duct and injected glue into them with a hose quite slowly. During the process I held the visor in a way that the glue flowed along the duct.

The visor wrapped in some foil to protect it against scratches:

My injection-tool Made of a pipette and a hose:

    The result:

All the ugly smearing will later be invisible because I will matt that section of the visor as with my last version.
Later I will add some fake holes so the visible dots will be evenly distributed.

    Hope it's waterproof now!
Test results will arrive in some hours, when the glue hardened.

    Wish me luck
    My CaseCons:
