Urgent! TT CPU Retention Bracket Issues!
This is for all of you who have or are thinking about getting a ThermalTake CPU waterblock.
Beware the retention plate that afixes to the reverse side of the motherboard. Yesterday i tried to remove this retention mechanisim so i could put my watercooling system on my new computer. I would advise that it is not removable! Fortunatly my board had the StackCool design and no ill fate came of prying the bracket off, allthough i did suffer some damage due to the forces required to remove the bracket.
Do not purchase ThermalTake Blocks!

Normally there is a note in the manual tell you that it will attach permanently if you remove the plastic.

Re: Urgent! TT CPU Retention Bracket Issues!
It makes no mention of that in the Kandalf LCS manual. I would advise to stick tissue paper or somthing like it between the bracket and motherboard. The screws are plenty enough to hold the bracket in place. If i had a motherboard with lots of circuit pathways under the processor i wold have destroyed the board. It should be noted that once stuck, the bracket is there for life!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll probably be using Koolance parts when I eventually watercool my system.

Re: Urgent! TT CPU Retention Bracket Issues!
lol good luck with that then. sucks if you want to swop back to air or even change to a differant block as the fitting might not be the same :/ swifttech are the best blocks in the world imo. i have two of there up market blocks. they look cool and do a good job plus there very easy to clean =D and you dont get any of that horrorid sticky sticky business
ps. lovin the pic with the void if removed sticker and then the board has a huge gap in it. does that void it too? hehe. in all seriousness tho thats sick. whats the point?? its not like they weight a great deal to strain the screw holes.

1 + 1 = 2
1 * 1 = 1
