Building a Basic HTPC: Planning

Let’s face it, all of us are tired of paying for our TV content via cable or satellite. We have all heard about HTPCs but how many of us have actually tackled the task of building one? I took a quick poll on our forums and only 25 members reported having built or owning an HTPC. That’s only 0.69% of our member base. Those numbers started me thinking… Is the lack of HTPCs because people do not want one or are intimidated by building and setting one up? My gut tells me it’s the latter, so in this series I am going to completely cover everything you need to know about an HTPC from planning to building to enjoying. Continue reading after the jump.
