[edit] Bondo

Bondo is a brand name for auto body filler. It is known for its versatility, from everything from building entire parts of a case, to seamlessly joining parts for a custom look. Bondo is a two part filler. It consists of a gray filler, which is in the paint can when you buy it, and an activator, usually red. When the two are mixed they start a chemical reaction that makes the Bondo harden completely in about 10-15 minutes, which is very nice when modding. After all, who wants to have to wait a day for smaller parts to harden? Once hard, it can be sanded, shaped, and painted.

[edit] How To Mix

The trick to proper bondo mixing is to use a swirling pattern while mixing. Once the hardener (the red stuff in the toothpaste style tube) is completely mixed in with the filler, you should have an off pink color glob of bondo ready for your disposal. Since bondo will set in as little as ten minutes, time is of the utmost importance. Most people find that their first few attempts at eyeballing the amount of bondo needed will either be grossly under or over the actual amount. It is in the novice's best interest to start off by mixing less than what they feel is needed, as mixing more at a later time is more cost effective than having some go to waste due to being a bit overzealous.
