Powder-coating

From TheBestCaseScenario

Jump to: navigation, search

Powder Coating - def. is a chemical coating process that is usually associated with the coating of metal. It is a process in which a 'powder coat' dry chemical is sprayed on an object then baked on to form a skin-like coating. Often confused with conventional painting, powder-coating requires some real expensive and large equipment and is really only feasibly done by professionals that specialize in the process. Powder-coating produces a much more durable finish than conventional paint but is limited to metal parts that can endure the baking process. The baking process turns the powder into liquid, forming the skin like coating, then solidifies to a rock hard coating once cooled again.

Some examples of things that are powder coated are bike frames and auto parts.
