Installing PSU's

1) First make sure that you computer is completely unplugged (all devices and especially the mains connection). Also wear an anti-static wristband and connect it to a metal object to ground yourself.

2) As you might notice from the picture below there is a nice big gap above the motherboard - where the PSU (Power Supply Unit) should be sitting. Also below is a view at the back of the case.

3) Place you PSU in the space provided making sure that it is the right way around - a good way of checking is by making sure that the big fan on the bottom of most PSU's is facing downwards. If your PSU does not have a big fan on the bottom, read on to step 4 to identify which way around it goes.

4) Screw the PSU onto the case making sure that the hole for the screws are lined up alright. If you have read on from step 3 to identify which way round your PSU should sit, you will notice that when you look at the back, the screw at the top right-hand corner is offset to the rest. You need to make sure that this lines up with the hole for the screw to screw into on the PSU.

5) You now need to plug the ATX plug into the motherboard. The picture below shows an ATX plug.

6) You now need to locate on the motherboard the ATX socket where the ATX plug will plug into. The picture below shows the socket used in this tutorial.

7) To make sure that you plug the ATX plug in the right way, there is a clip on the side of the AXT plug and socket which needs to connect to hold the ATX cable in place. You can see a picture of the connected ATX plug and socket below.
