View Full Version : I don't want Windows to start

So I decided to take a look at what starts up when my computers starts up, and maybe disbale a few things. But I noticed something first. One of the items is named "Microsoft Windows Operating System". That would be a bitch if you managed to turn off Windows from starting from within Windows.

That would probably not be a good idea...

Unless you like trying to fix stuff like that, or want ro run something other than Windows.

Even if you unchecked that startup box, you could always get into windows using Last Known Good Configuration from the boot menu ;)

look it up in regedit to see what its linked to?
hkey-->Local_Machine-->Software-->Microsoft-->Windows-->CUrrentversion-->Run

Sorry if this is an old bump but I just found this thread.
I'm running Windows XP pro SP2 and the line you have highlighted isn't in my system configuration and my machine runs fine.
I used
C:\WINDOWS\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR\Binaries\msconfig.exe
to look at my files
What version of windows and what util were you using?
Even if you load to a command prompt only I bet typing "win" would load the GUI

From the look of the GUI I would guess it's some edition of Windows Vista.
