Oi, now that I'm getting all hyped about the ATI HD3870 and new nvidia 8800GTS 512MB, I'm already hearing about the nvidia G100! Yeah thats right, we just saw the G92 and they're already finishing the G100. Though we haven't gotten any useful specs yet, we've been hearing about the ATI R700.

Also on a closer upcoming view, ATI will be releasing the R680, which will essentially be a dual-core version of the R670. That oughta be interesting.

Just to let you know before I continue:
I understand there is no info yet, but it is fun/interesting to speculate.

What kinda of features do you think will be on the G100 and R700? Everyone knows those will both have displayport and will run on low manufacturing processes (65nm or lower), but what else do you think will come with these cards? I am wondering how these will perform compared to the current gen cards (8800 GTX, 8800GT, HD2900XT).

Besides all that, I am very conflicted right now: I need a nice new card for Crysis and about a million other games coming out really soon. However, all of the really nice cards are coming out the first quarter of next year. I was considering just going the nvidia way and using evga's step-up program but I'm worried the nice cards (that I was talking about above) won't come out within 90 days of this card.

Well I think the Nvidia G100 will be the most powerful thing to date. Most likely it will have 1GB DDR 3 or 4 VRAM (R700 will most likely use the same) and have a cooler similar to the 8800GTX or Ultra but maybe with full copper fins and heatpipes instead of the aluminium ones. As for the processes they may go lower than 65nm but I think they will stay as is for the time being. Hopefully the cards don't get any longer and they improve on the on board physics calculations that started with the 8800GTX. And as with every new card there will be about 4 different versions out within the first few months so all you have to do is take your pick.

I see the G100 being the 9 series, as the G92 is the 8 series, that's all i see lol.

As it's only speculation:
2GB DDR5 @ 7GHz
G100 Core @ 4Ghz
PCI-E 3.0 x32
2 10pin power connectors - minimum of a 2Kw PSU
32nm processing tech
Crysis Maxed out running on a dual 30" @ 100fps
SLi x8
SLi still only supports 1 monitor...
24volt 240mm fan
Card dimensions: 10inches wide, 20inches long
PCB Layers - 18

It's all true i read it on. www.thisisallmadeupstuffandyouareanidiot.org

In reality maybe twice the performance of a GTX, max of 1GB of memory, 1GHz Core, 3GHz Mem, PCI-E 2.0, 1x 8pin power connector. Some decent stock cooling, Triple SLi support

Can I point out that the next gen hasn't always gotten twice the performance of the last?

These graphic cards are a deadly cycle I tell ya. lol

"oh I'll just wait a few more months and get the NEXT best one!"

"oh, its out! But... the X93332234 is coming out soon too... I guess I'll just wait until it does. That way if its awesome I'll get it and if isn't awesome, the other card will be a lot cheaper by then! Genius!"

"OMG, its finally here and it IS awesome! ...but... in a few more months..."

:p

The only reason why I ever get excited about new graphic cards coming out is because the low end cards get even cheaper. So the ones I can actually afford, become more affordable. X1600XT FTW! lol
