Pretty cool, but until it has sensors that can view the enviroment around it, you couldnt use it anywhere but on a predefined track.

It uses lasers and other devices to detect obsticles, I know theres a full video out there, which was shown on the discovery channel, of the the actual autonomous race through the desert, pretty cool imo

I'd rather be in control thank you very much. I freak out enough when the people I trust are behind the wheel while I'm a passenger. lol

...although, people who know me and have seen me drive, probably think this car is a blessing from god. :p

Somebody should develop that in harmony with the Mercedes tech that judges distance from the car in front of it (but make this all around) and have somebody race their robot-car thing.

Oh my goodness thats so cool but atleast you can control it if you want but for this to be successful it would need to get road / map updates frequently. Also it needs to recognize people /road signs / other cars quickly. But then again people would become real lazy after this. If they can put this technology into to a motorcycle then I want one.

Oh, I'd never, er, "drive" that car. I want to control the car. Now, if it were to give me advice ("move 1m to the right so you don't hit that other car" type stuff, or "hey you're doing ten under the limit, speed up") that'd be good, but I'm a natural driver, so.

I would just like to sit in it for a balls out lap with no one driving. Would be a cool ride.

As for regular use, I would rather have control over whats going on then have a computer/gps/etc. drive me around.

I have seen it on tv before but they didn't do too well lol. Some cars ran off track & stuff early.
