Breaking: Microsoft to buy Yahoo

The Stock Market just opened in New York and Microsoft has made a bid of $44.6 million to buy yahoo. More as the story devlops.

That's what I thought when I heard it this morning also, but I also remember the first time I heard the name Microsoft back before windows 3.1 and never invested. Doh!

I wonder what they want to do w/ it. Or if they just want to own it. Between windows mail (hotmail?) and yahoo mail they will have a lot of business. Also, between msn and yahoo they will now have a lot of control of Instant messaging. Aren't yahoo and MSN like the two biggest protocols out side of the US?

Yeah MSN Messenger is pretty huge here a high % of people use it as there client. Also in Europe to I think. Then there is a sprinkiling of Yahoo around.

There is really no redeeming qualities to yahoo except I use it for my mail.

Yeah it does. A bit off topic. Did you hear about Microsoft wanting to take over Yahoo? Yahoo rejected a $44.6 Billion USD offer.
