I have been doing a little looking and can't quite seem to figure out what the best type of primer is to use for aluminum. It seems people are split half and half on using self etching primer, or just regular primer. Which is the best?
I want to paint the inside of the case (doesn't need to have a showroom finish) and the outside of the case.

I have always been told self etch primer for alu cos it is a lot smoother than steel. I used self etch primer to paint the interior of my case, haven't had a problem with it.

cool...I think I'll go that route then. Also...I'm making a new front for the mod that is going to include a large piece of acrylic. I want to stealth the cd drives, but how do you cut the stuff w/o melting it. Is it possible to cut a nice clean rectangle out of acrylic w/o ruining the edges?

1.First you have to drill holes on the inside corners of the marked rectangle.
2.You then grab a jig saw (if you have a scroll saw use that, much easier to cut with), you can even use a Dremel but that might melt a bit.
3.Cut from one hole to another but not directly on the line, if you cut a few mm off the line you can file it back and mask tiny mistakes.
4.File down the excess, wet sand and polish
You can get plastics blades for jig saws which I found worked perfectly while cutting out plastic parts.
Hope this helped.
