Well I found out that Best Buy sells a case under a brand name of theirs (RocketFish) that is actually a rebranded Lian-Li case built exclusive for the Best Buy brand. furthermore it was originally $200 but never sold well so BB is discontinuing it and they are all on clearance. I've heard that they can be had for $71 in store if the stores still have them. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8428604&productCategoryId=abcat0507006&type=product&tab=1&id=1183160363476#productdetail

Right now I'm using a NZXT Apollo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146028) that was given too me. Well they are a decent case I am not all that satisfied with it. First off the front I/O is on the wrong side which makes it hard for me to use them. Secondly I was never a fan of the styling. I also like the window and the cool lights but they are starting to get very annoying. Impossible to leave the computer on overnight (say for a long render or download) as I can't sleep with it on. Also it's just a little on the small side.

Needless to say this RocketFish/Lian-Li built case seems like a real good upgrade. However the store closet to me is out and the next closest store (still not unreasonably far away) has a few but tells me it is $95. Meanwhile my friend has a Coolermaster Cosmos (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119138) which is a great case and definately quiet that he has been asking me to buy for like $100-110. I'd rather upgrade to the RocketFish thing but if it's almost the same price as my friends case IDK. I don't entirely like the look of the Cosmos, and I'm not sure I want to buy anything more off of my friend.

I'm also trying not to spend too much money.

What should I do. Keep my Apollo which is working fine for now, just not as well as i'd like. Sell the Apollo (get may $45 for it) and buy the awesome RocketFish I really like. Or sell the Apollo and get my friends Cosmos for the most amount of money.

I want to decide by tomorrow probably maybe wait a week but I dont know how long I'll be able to get the RocketFish.

If it is something you want, and it is something that is within your price range, then by all means, go for it. You are writing this to convince yourself, pretty much the same way I did back when I was considering an upgrade.

If you want it, and you have the money and buying it won't be detrimental to you then I say go for it! The Cosmos is a great case, but it doesn't seem to be what you really want.

I've been looking at this case as well, ever since I worked at Best Buy and we had started to get them in. Now that it may be on sale it might be the perfect case to redo Project: Nightrain. I wanted to buy it back when it was 200$ as well, but couldn't justify it.

The only thing that threw me off before other than price was that it is 24" tall and the current spot under the side of my desk that Nightrain resides is only 22.5" high. That was and is the issue for me.

But if you like it go for it man, assuming its financially viable. (i.e. sell the Apollo and get what may make you happy :D)

Edit: I don't think I am going to get it as there are other mods I need to start/complete before I worry about redoing Nightrain.

One thing I just noticed, which may or not be a good thing is that the case is only made out of 1mm-1.2mm aluminum. Thin and easy to work with, but on its own may seem a little flimsy to those expecting thicker aluminum.

On the other hand it makes it extremely light for its size.

Edit: After doing some research just found that the price varies from BB to BB. Some have it for 70$ while others have been going as low as 40$! I can deal with it not fitting under my desk for that price lol. Will prob check tomorrow and see what the price is at my store.

Edit: I am def going to check if my area has this case for a decent price. Apparently not all stores do. But.... I looked up the actual dimensions from people that have it and apparently it is EXACTLY the same size as Project Nightrain (slightly less narrow), so it should fit perfectly under my desk.

I know someone who just got one a few days ago and he's quite happy with it. I personally want a cosmos just because Im in pursuit of a silent system but that lian case is well constructed

Yea i knew the price varied, unfortunately the closest store to me that has it said it was $95. I did just find a gift certificate that can help me justify the cost better. And the only reason I'd consider my friends Cosmos is the quiet factor, but then again I shut my computer off every night so its not a big deal if I have decent fans. I may go for this just need to find a ride and time to go.

I just went and looked at the BB in my town and they didn't have any. :(

I was with my family and talking about it at lunch and about my 21st birthday. Well they just left and I just got a call from them. One of the stores on the way home that they called apparently has 4+ of them...

For $53

They are apparently holding one of them for them, and my family is on their way. I'd ask them to grab two of em, but getting the other one to you would be more than you prob just grabbing the one for 95$ with gas prices and/or shipping/time. :(

Nice Find! I'm going to have to call my local BestBuy, and see if I can pick one up cheap.

The family is still traveling, but I forgot to do this earlier.

+rep chaksq as I wouldn't have known about this, as I hardly frequent BB or their website, or really anything to do with them since I stopped working there last year.

Edit: Well they picked one up for me. The only thing is, is that I have to wait till the next time they come back up :( lol. That will prob be next weekend. Not sure when I am going to get a chance to mod it anyway. I still have to get pics of Nightrain up as I have procrastinated out my @$$ as it is.

Thanks for the rep guys although I feel I should give credit where it is due. I found out about the deal from another member while talking in the chatroom. I forgot who but I'm pretty sure it was Okele (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/member.php?u=8213).

Rep Duly Noted! :D
+rep Okele

Anxious to get the case. I have to find something else to do. Designing and thinking about it just leads to more anxiousness. :devious:

Alright I just picked this case up. The closest store that had any left had them for about $48+tax, so I snagged it. I'm going to take pictures and post a review later.

Nice Nice!!! Grats!

I don't know when I get to see mine, they might make me wait till my birthday  . Less than a month a way. Just have to keep telling myself lol.

I've always died for a Lian-li or similar styled case, for $50 bucks, even if the sides are a little thin, you can't go wrong. All the better to mod them ehh?

What I really want to do is get the inside thats all silver, anodized a deep red. But that would cost too much I think. More than the case nonetheless. I could do it myself with smaller parts if I really wanted to, but the parts are just to big.
