Alright, I have visited this site for probably over a year, just waiting for an oppurtunity to come along for me to try modding a case. My parents recently asked me to set up an old HP computer sitting around to be a print server ont he network for them. With that taken care of, I remember how bad the cooling on the thing was and wanted to do a complete case mod, not for the beautifcation, but for the colling enhancement since this PC is on 24/7 and I want it to last for them for some time.
Here is a VERY basic diagram, but the sizes of the components are pretty close to accurate size @ about 72 px/in:

Do you think the idea is crazy? too hard for a first build?

Mate,
First of all welcome - I joined the ranks myself not to long ago. Secondly, you might want to download Sketchup, its a free program that you can draw 3D or even 2D with ease and accuracy - it helps when you are trying to convey your message. It is pretty easy to use and you will pick it up quick (it kind of has it hands down over paint :) ).
In regards to your design, from what I can understand it wont be that hard to make, the trick is patience! As I said, I have just started here as well - but we have available to us this great resource, full of ideas and suggestions. Read through a few worklogs, take a trip through the wiki and you should start to develop your own ideas about creating this comp of yours.
One final thing to keep in mind, you will want some "beautification" in mind of the cables - keeping them out of the way and hiden will improve the air flow.
I hope there is a couple of suggestions in there for you - have FUN champ!

Thanks.
There will be some beautification, it is just that the outside design is less important than the internal design on this build.
Will do with SketchUp, planning on getting a good representation made up, and then when i actually start, I will get a worklog going.
