View Full Version : Buying Logitech G25

As the title says. I think its time I treat myself to a nice racing wheel. The Xbox 360 controller just ain't cutting it for Need for Speed Most Wanted, Test Drive Unlimited, Dirt (and soon to be Grid) anymore. I'm not a big fan of driving sims, but I want a wheel for my games and a really nice one at that. As far as I know, the G25 will be right for me.
The thing is that I've read mixed reviews, some people think its perfect others hate the shifter, or the pedals or the size of the wheel or something. Does anyone here have the G25?
Thanks,
Indybird

I can't say I have it, but I'm tempted to get one to go with my G5 and G15.

If I do get it (and its looking like I'm going to) I'm going to post my usual review here, so if you'd be willing to wait you could hear/see first hand how it is...

If your going to be using the G25 on the PC or PS3 then you will be set, but hopefully I am not bursting your bubble on a great wheel but...
...
The G25 doesn't work on the XBOX 360. According to some threads I've read with logitech reps, not now, not ever as it is a different type of ffb then what the 360 supports. Also it plain simply doesn't work at all on the 360.
I know, it sucks. I went out and bought the microsoft wheel on my birthday and was severely disappointed. The MS wheel was full of column slop, not sure if all wheels do this or maybe it was just mine but the force feedback wasn't a constant thing, it kept popping on me as if a gear was shot or something. I was so severely upset as I was wanting this wheel for a long time. It didn't fit on my desk correctly either. I might go try the drive fx but that is only axial feedback so ugghhgh. I have been so sad as I was expecting something great for Forza and other games. :(

Crenn PC Case Gear have one ex-demo for $275 instead of the $350AUD RRP.

No I don't have one but I have used one in store. They are fantastic. Realistic resistance on the brake, clutch and throttle. The option of paddle, sequential or "H" pattern shifting. Nice comfortable steering wheel. About the best wheel, peddle and gear combo around.
The only down side I found is that it is quite large mainly because it is three seperate pieces. The gear stick isn't attached to the wheel allowing you to mount for left or right hand use, this makes it use a lot of room.
Nightrain is right though. I don't think it does work with the Xbox 360. Does work with PS2 though.
Hope that helps in your decision.

Yup, doesn't work with the xbox 360, else I would own one by now. I was so disappointed with the MS wheel. I am actually tempted to pick up a G25 and a PS3, even though their isn't full support for the clutch on any games on the ps3 yet as I have heard. I just want that damn wheel lol.

If it works on the PS2 they will eventually get the software for the PS3.

The G25 does work on the PS3. What I was saying was that I had heard not all of its features had been working on every game (such as the clutch not actually doing anything). Upon further research it was that the clutch wasn't supported in GT5 prologue demo, and apparently works fine in the game itself. The G25 is supported on the PS3, I just don't know which other games support using the clutch.

The answer is simple lol. Don't use the clutch haha, paddle shift all the way. Yeah I know, it aint fun without the clutch.

True. I would kill to have the g25 even half work on the 360. I would buy one in an instant.

If gran turismo 5 ever comes out, they have pledged compatibility with the G25. Knowing the people behind gran turismo, I am going to bet that the clutch will be functional.
I hope gran turismo is a full sim with the wheel, and doesn't use the still somewhat arcadey controls that must be in place for the control pad to possibly be used.

I'm reading that the wheel is only 11". Do you guys think that is too small?

You can put larger wheels on it if you need it to, 11 inches should be good enough, though.

Just ordered it! I got it on sale for $228 at amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GP8448). Do you see that $18 in shipping? And the best part is they estimate it won't come until the 30th thru 4th!
oi. Oh, well looks like I won't be reviewing it for a while...

Oh my god, I am getting so frustrated with amazon. Yesterday I got an e-mail from them that says "Payment Revision Required". So I re-enter it, it says its ok, but then literally 5 seconds later I get the same e-mail. I repeat this 4 or 5 times out of frustration, then e-mail their customer support ticket describing the problem. They e-mail me back with the most obvious example of a preset response. Ugh. It can't be my card because I've used it online several times already, and I have enough money in the account.
I really don't want to wait very long for this order to go through because it supposedly takes 2 weeks to ship.

I can't wait for that review to salivate over.
I've been playing some forza, lately. I could definitely see myself getting way into a good online simulator game (not a whole lot happening online on the original forza).
I'm thinking gran turismo 5, with that racing wheel, racing in the mid-high class (MAN I hope they'll have car classes in that game, so every race isn't a full P1 race).

ok...heres the deal. When I got my debit card recently, my banker didn't tell me that I needed to do a separate activation to use the card's credit function. Amazon.com kept denying that since it was not activated. I got it ordered now, and it will be coming next week. Expect an in-depth review the following weekend.

Okay, sounds good. What game are you going to be prodominately using it with?
Indybird

Test Drive Unlimited. I have no idea why, but I am more addicted to that game then any other game I've ever played (except for maybe Morrowind). I just love getting my nice car and driving around the island. I'll also be using it for Need for Speed Most Wanted and Race Driver: Grid (this summer). I might even try out some simulators just to see what thats like...
And by the way, amazon lied; the shipping won't take as long as they said. At the latest I'll be getting it Monday, but it looks like I'll be getting tomorrow or Friday!

Awesome, somebody else plays! I'll just start a new player sometimes and wreak havoc without the cops enabled...

Well I got it today! I've definitely got some things to say about it for a review.
Just to let you know I ripped the box open so fast that I forgot to take pictures of everything packed in, so I'll just have to describe it.
