are you using split-loom or regular casing? also, see if theres an alternative to the molex connectors thats smaller and less noticable, to help keep things clean :)

I will be using tubing so it is fully encased but i may have to split it down the back so its unnoticeable.

And im not sure what else i would use really i think ill just stick with molexs so i dont have to buy anything else :D

x06jsp
09-26-2008, 10:24 AM
I will hopefully be making a junction that will be able to be shut off so i can remove diff parts of the loop its hard to describe so you will just have to wait and see if i do it... lol

Well im back for another update :D

I started off today by cutting new front and back end pieces for the rad housing
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular334.jpg

I then got them mounted up
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular335.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular336.jpg

And then i grabbed some mesh and cut it to size
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular337.jpg

I then marked the hole i need to make on the rad housing
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular338.jpg

Took it apart
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular339.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular340.jpg

and then cut
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular347.jpg

I still need to file that down so i will get that done first thing monday morning :D

And i also got a bit bored so i decided to start on a decorative dagger thing (it wont be used as a dagger!)
Initial cut
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular342.jpg
I then started to give it a bit of a sharpen (note i wont be able to sharpen this properly as it is alu not anything like stainless steel allthough i am thinking of buying some so i can make a proper dagger of my own :D

How it is held
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular344.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular345.jpg

I will probably cut 2 bits of black acrylic to put either side of the handle aswell

And thats it for today :D

Josh

The boy 4rm oz

Ok midday update :D there may be an update later but i dont know yet

i started where i left off last week and filed down the cutout on the rad housing
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular348.jpg

and then i mounted the mesh so that the rad housing is finished apart from the struts for the rad
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular349.jpg

I then took a break to bake this for my family its an apple crumble :D i love em that will be devoured tonight after tea
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular350.jpg

i then moved on to the pump housing and got the front mounts mounted to the module
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular351.jpg

then i fitted the front
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular352.jpg

then i mounted the back
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular353.jpg

finished
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular354.jpg

the only bits i have to do on the modules is cut the cable management and the tubing holes and then on the pump/res housing i have to cut the front panel for the res im using but i cant do that yet as i cant afford the res... buttttt that is it and other than that i just have to make supports :D

so im nearly there now

Ok well on with todays update :D

I started this yesterday but hey,

I started off by getting out my tile cutter
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular355.jpg

and attempting to cut the acrylic straight it didnt really work
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular356.jpg

So i then used the score and snap technique that i learned from syrillian and its very very effective
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular357.jpg

So i was quickly able to do these yesterday
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular358.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular359.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular360.jpg

Then this morning i got the rest of the 56 black pieces done :D
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular361.jpg

so now i just need to do the 42 green bits and then i will be ready to start the proper work on them :D

Josh

DonT-FeaR
10-01-2008, 07:41 AM

Thanks all you need to do is take a stanley knife or something similar (i used a chisel as i couldnt find my stanley :D

measure where you need to cut then use the ruler as a guide along the line for the first few goes (go lighter to start with) then go over it quite a lot and when you have a relatively deep groove (i think mine were about 0.5-1mm deep on 3mm bits you will need a bit more for 5mm up) then place the main bit of plexi on a table or bench or whatever hold that down (line it up so that the score line is right up on the edge) then push down quite hard on the smaller bit you are breaking off and there you go sometimes it needs quite a bit of force :D

Hope this helps

Now that's a lot of plexi.

Lol well i have used nearly a hole sheet of black acrylic on this case so far (100cmx60cm :D lol)

and by the time i have done all the green i will have used 1.5 sheets of that :D

Hey guys im back with another update :D

I decided this morning that i would make the supports a bit simpler so i am not drilling holes in them and they are a slightly different shape but it like it and it means that i can just about cut them on my scroll saw then i just need to use my belt sander to flatten them down

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular385.jpg

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular386.jpg

and then i got them polished (ill get better macro shots another day
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular387.jpg

i then drilled and tapped them.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular388.jpg

attached the first
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular389.jpg

And the rest
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular390.jpg

Then after a while i had this done :D rad,pump/res and mobo
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular391.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular392.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular393.jpg

Thats it for today so i will hopefully get at least the next four done tomorrow and i hope to have these supports completed by thurs then i need to make the support that runs between the rad and hdd housings to hold the dvd housing.
then i need to wait for money so that i can buy my cable management stuff then i just need to get it painted and its done :D

Hey guys well i have got the hdd mounted to the psu housing :D

support before polishing after sanding
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular395.jpg

and polished
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular394.jpg

Attached to the psu housing
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular396.jpg

And attached to the hdd housing :D
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular397.jpg

so there we have it all i have left for these supports is putting feet on the psu housing and then joining that double section to the rest of it then i just have to make the supports for the dvd housing then all fabrication is done :D :D

And i maybe be able to buy some of the stuff for cable management this week/next week

I must say that looks bloody beautiful. Yeah it looks heavy lol. My guessing is 25-30kg for the entire thing empty. When it's on the board, painted and full of hardware and water cooling gear it will probably be around 50kg lol. I think you may win the award for the heaviest PC on the forum lol.

Well on with yet another update :D

I took on board some suggestions about making the mounting plate of the dvd drive smaller and got on with that today.

First i had to cut some longer bolts to go in place of shorter ones that were holding the green and black bits to the rods as the short ones were now too short. and i removed the protective wrapping that was on the rods
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular444.jpg

I then shortened one side of the dvd mount
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular445.jpg

And then i did the other one and mounted the dvd housing notice how now you can hardly see the mounts compared to the massive sheet :D
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular446.jpg

I then removed the protective bits that were on the mounts
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular448.jpg

well here is my tubing
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular451.jpg

And the first section cut long enough with the p4 connector through
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular452.jpg

I then cut the holes in the front of the psu housing
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular453.jpg

and then all the holes i will need in the back plate including watercooling holes
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular455.jpg

and here is the first hose through the p4 connector (it is not secured yet as i have to wait for the case to be painted before i can secure it)
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular456.jpg

Then i cut more hose there is the p4 connector one, the one for the atx cable and one for a dual molex that will then plug into 2 extensions that will go from the mobo housing to the rad and pump housing as power for the fans and pump
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular457.jpg

I then cut one for the sata power cable for my dvd drive
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular458.jpg

front of the psu so far
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular459.jpg

Woot another update

I started by drilling the last holes for the tamer

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular474.jpg

Secured
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular475.jpg

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular480.jpg

I like it :D
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular479.jpg

I then did a bit more cabling
The single sata power cable for the dvd drive
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular478.jpg

and the dual for hdds
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular476.jpg

and thats it for today :D

all thats left to do before paint is the cutout for the res :D as i can do the cabling while its being painted :D

Would absolutely kill the flow rate though. Plus each one costs about $50AUD without fittings ($2-$4AUD each) or the mounting plate which costs anywhere between $15-$20AUD.

11-04-2008, 07:48 AM
Looks to me that the loop will be fairly long anyway cos he has to connect the main module to the rad module. I am guessing that a smaller res would probably work just fine cos there will be lots of fluid in the lines.

x06jsp
11-04-2008, 01:25 PM

Update time :D

I started off today by cutting the 4" hole in the front of the res/pump housing for the res
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular491.jpg

i then got it drilled and tapped and fitted the res
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular492.jpg

mounted
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular494.jpg

i then decided to see what it would be like with the pump in there aswell and it looks fine to me plenty of room :D
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular495.jpg

I am contemplating whether to do a window in the side of this module so you can see inside. and also im considering wether to cut some green to go ontop of the front facia of the res..

and also it is starting to look like i may have to paint these cases myself as i cant get hold of my airbrush artist and i cant afford another guy as my guy was doing them as a favour but oh well it just means i will have to miss out on the green metallic flakes.

Flat is no gloss, satin is a slight sheen, pretty much the same but slightly different. You can get pretty good effects by mixing the two. I used flat black on LEXA and probably wont use it again, I prefer the satin, slightly glossy look, tastes change lol.

one other thing when painting panels is Flat is much easier to create an even shade, when using gloss it can be a bit tricky to keep an even coat (without streaking)

Well i got to work on the facia of the res mount today

So first things first is was to disassemble the res
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular496.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular497.jpg

I then drew around the original mount
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular498.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular499.jpg

And if anyone was wondering what i look like on a normal cold day in the south of england here you go :P
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular501.jpg

After a while of cutting i have this
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular502.jpg

And drilled and assembled
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular503.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular504.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular505.jpg

And thats it for today i will hopefully get my mini window done on the pump/res housing tomorrow

Another update for you lovely people :D

I marked out the area for cutting on the side panel of the pump housing
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular506.jpg
and the acrylic
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular507.jpg

acrylic cut
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular508.jpg

and after more cutting and filing i have the side panel cut
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular509.jpg

and mounted
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular510.jpg

and also i found some satin black left over from ages ago along with some primer so i thought i would just test it out this is with 1 coat of each and the only prep was a very quick rub down with some 320g sandpaper it turned out pretty much perfect :D but its very hard to photograph
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular511.jpg

Thats it for today unfortunately
