Hi there i am copying this over from other websites so this is actually 3 updates in one.

Ok guys my long awaited project is finally here, but I must say I'm still not sure on the name so if anyone has any better suggestions please go ahead and reveal them.

Firstly sponsors
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/Crucial_Logo.gif
www.crucial.com

This all started out as a design to try and really push my skills and the ideas behind a computer case and also as a way of promoting my shop.

The design started off as quite a simple modular idea
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modularpc.jpg

But then it quickly evolved into Modularis Evolution
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modularpc1rendertopleft.jpg

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modularconceptdrawingcopy.jpg

So as I have got my workshop all sorted out and ready to mod I grabbed one of my sheets of 2'x4' aluminium and marked it ready for cutting (please excuse the blur i didnt have my tripod to hand)
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular001.jpg
I quickly got that cut up with my trusty jigsaw and moved onto the bending with my amazing 30" manual sheet metal brake.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular002.jpg

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular003.jpg

So thats one side done on to the next
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular004.jpg

I then cut a piece for the top - this will be the removable section for access to the mobo tray.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular005.jpg

I then grabbed one of my spare motherboard trays and put it in for a very rough test fit - note it is not going to be that low down when it is mounted.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular006.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular007.jpg

So unfortunately that is all I had time for today but dont worry I will be doing some more to it on Monday.

Plan for Monday is to get the window in the top section cut and maybe the front and back panels cut.

Until next time

Well I'm back for another update, Unfortunately i didn't get quite as much as i was hoping done today but nether the less i have an update anyway.

Firstly here is the top panel marked for cutting out the window.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular008.jpg

And after a short session on the scroll saw before filing we get this
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular009.jpg

And after a bit of filing we are left with this
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular010.jpg
But im not too sure on this i think it may be a bit small for this case and i also havent rounded off the corners so i think i will enlarge the hole and round off the corners aswell.

And mounted to the rest of the case
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular011.jpg

Now is the time to move on to the front and back panels so here you go front panel cut out
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular012.jpg

Front and back panels cut out
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular013.jpg

And then onto the back panel i/o cutout (sorry didnt get any pics of marking out etc etc
But here it is in the vice being filed
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular014.jpg

And unfortunately that's all for today more tomorrow.

Hope you enjoy

Thanks a lot guys it means a lot!!

And @ bloomerz dont worry i am updating daily during the weeks!! and here is the next one

Ok guys well im back again for another update.

I started off today by marking out the top panel to enlarge the window
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular015.jpg

And after cutting
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular016.jpg
yes thats much better i think :D

I then moved on to making up some brackets to secure the back panel to the body of the case
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular017.jpg

And finished
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular018.jpg

I then moved on to the front green acrylic and got it all marked out
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular021.jpg

Then got it cut out with the jigsaw to allow easier access for on the scroll saw
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular022.jpg

And cut on the scroll saw http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular023.jpg

I then got it all marked up and ready for the windowed section
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular024.jpg

And sadly that is where it has been left for today but there will be more tomorrow

Very interesting looking build that, I really like the "modular modding" approach and building everything from scratch but, I am a little bit envious of all that shiny new aluminium sheet:D

Right I'm back again with another update so here we go I will pick up from where we left off.

Acrylic front panel decoration window cut
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular025.jpg

And I wasn't happy with my first front panel as it didn't quite square up so I made a new one and marked it for the window
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular026.jpg

Cut..
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular027.jpg

How it will look in place
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular028.jpg

I then got the clear acrylic for the actual window marked and cut
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular029.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular030.jpg

I then grabbed the green acrylic and ventured over to my grinder with a 6" polishing mop attached and went about polishing the outside of the acrylic
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular032.jpg

Unfortunately the inside edges weren't able to be polished using the grinder so i used some 320grit sandpaper and some steel wool to give it a nice smooth feel with a bit of a shine.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular034.jpg

And then there it is mounted up again
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular036.jpg

Hope you enjoyed my latest update and dont forget to check back again tomorrow for the next update!

Anyway update!!!

I had a new addition to my workshop today
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular037.jpg
It keeps me going!

Then i marked out the acrylic for the angled bits of the main case for the tile cutter
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular038.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular039.jpg

Unfortunately this didnt go too well so i did it using my jigsaw instead!!
And got them polished up aswell (this process took a very long time from initial cutting to belt sanding to hand sanding to get rid of any marks to polishing!!)
so here is one
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular040.jpg
two
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular041.jpg
And all four
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular042.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular043.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular044.jpg

I then made up a template for the supports (note this is only a template so its not perfect!
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular047.jpg

I then cut the pieces for my test support
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular048.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular049.jpg

and it worked well, im not going to bother showing it as it was just a test of how strong they would be and how good the glue is! and well five mins after initial gluing i was able to stand on it with my full weight... and i then sanded and polished it and you wouldnt even know it has been glued it looks completely smooth as if it was made in one piece! so it was a success.

so i am going to make a second template for the backside and get started on some of the supports for this.

And im a bit annoyed about my camera but i will just have to get it repaired.

That's always a bitch - lost my old point'n'shoot PowerShot A40 that way. I don't use that tripod anymore.

Good to see that the glue'll hold... Should make things a bit easier.

07-11-2008, 08:18 PM
Ok guys well i tried out drilling the holes through the support and it worked out quite well but i noticed if you drill all the way through you will chip the side that the drill comes through whereas if you drill most the way through so that the drill is just poking through then turn over and drill the other way you dont chip it.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular078.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular079.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular080.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular081.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular082.jpg

I then decided to move on to the next module.... so here goes

step by step :

1. i mark out the piece that will be bent
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular066.jpg

2. then cut it out
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular068.jpg

3. then grab your 30"bending brake
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular070.jpg

4. mark where you want it bent
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular069.jpg

5. start bending untill you think its about right
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular071.jpg

6. grab your set square with a handy 45degree angle on it
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular072.jpg

7. check angle its not quite right just bend some more and if its too bent then just push it back with your hand.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular074.jpg

8. repeat stages 4-7
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular075.jpg

and that is it for today guys.

hope you enjoyed it

ok guys on with the next update....

I started off the day by cutting out the front and back sections of the hdd housing.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular091.jpg

Then I marked my third 4'x2' sheet of 1.629mm alu for the metal I needed for the dvd housing.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular093.jpg

And bent
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular094.jpg

I then cut out the top section
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular095.jpg

I then quickly got to work on the pump/res housing
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular096.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular097.jpg

And that is all for today :D

Tomorrows plan of action is to cut and bend the rad housing and then cut the ends for the dvd, pump/res and the rad housings.

Hope you enjoyed this update

hey guys,

Time for another update. unfortunately its alot smallre as i have been with my girlfriend more today.

but i did get this done :

I started by cutting the lst side panel for the pump/res housing (excuse the wonkyness i just plonked it on for the photo.)
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular098.jpg

i then got the alu cut out for the two parts of the rad housing.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular099.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular100.jpg

and got the first part bent
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular101.jpg

and that is it for today.
more tomorrow though (hopefully quite a bit more!)

tomorrows plan:

bend the second section for the rad housing
cut out the ends for rad,pump/res,cd/dvd

Then after that is done i will lay it out how it will be (without the supports) to show you guys just how big this beast will be!
then it is onto the acrylic work!

Hey guys,

Sorry I didnt get round to updating last night I ended up staying round a mates house! lol.

So here is last nights update...

I started the day off by bending the second section of the rad housing.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular102.jpg

I then did a quick mock up of the overall layout seeing as i have bent all the modules now!
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular103.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular104.jpg

I then got to work on the dvd drive housing and cut a hole for the cables
and riveted the bottom to the rest of the housing.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular105.jpg

I then cut the ends
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular106.jpg

And unfortunately thats all I got time for and I dont have much time today to do much so ill just post what little I do tonight.

Hope you enjoyed it anyway

well unfortunately there is only a tiny update again today as the girlfriend was only working half a day so i was busy this morning! and i need to buy some more alu as i have pretty much run out so im working with the acrylic angle pieces for the time being.

firstly i got the side panel of the pump/res housing secured on to the rest of the module
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular107.jpg

i then moved on to the accent pieces for the hdd cage i will let the pics do the talking. i have got 2 of them finished and polished.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular111.jpg
and this is what i get (vodka, strawberry syrup and lemonade :D )
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular112.jpg

and then i only got a chance to finish up the last two angled pieces for the hdd cage

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular113.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular114.jpg

And thats it!!

Tomorrow i will get started on the other angled sections and see about mounting these on the hdd cage :D

Ok guys next update!

I HAVE MY FIRST SPONSOR FOR THIS PROJECT!!!

check my first post...

and on with the work.

I started working again on the angled pieces for the hdd module and got them all polished up
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular115.jpg

I then came up with a way of getting all the holes drilled in the right place
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular116.jpg

and done
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular117.jpg

First hole on the hdd module drilled
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular118.jpg

Tapping both the acrylic and the module for an m4 socket head bolt
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular119.jpg

first angle done
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular120.jpg

jumping forward all 4 done
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular121.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular122.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular123.jpg

then i just thought i would randomly stack up the pump/res, hdd and dvd modules as they were at the time!
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular124.jpg

I then got the angle pieces for the dvd drive module cut out and polished
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular125.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular126.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular127.jpg

then drilled
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular129.jpg

and mounted!
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular128.jpg

then i thought i would just take the two modules that i had done the angles for inside and weigh them
these two weighed nearly 3 lb together and thats without the ends and the hardware so this is going to be one heavy case!
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular130.jpg

then i took the hdd cage out of my current case for modification
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular131.jpg

I then took my bench grinder to these tabs etc that arent needed
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular132.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular134.jpg
and to some more bits on the bottom that arent needed and just get in the way

And this is what i was left with.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular135.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular136.jpg

then i took my dvd drive and marked out the front of the module for cutting
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular137.jpg

and done
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular138.jpg

and thats it for today! :D

Hope you enjoyed it.

I have the same amount of time tomorrow to mod so be sure to check in and see what i have accomplished!

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular143.jpg (x2)

my 2gb of ddr2 ballistix ram from crucial!

i then cut out the plastic that the dvd drive will be supported above
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular144.jpg
and nearly finished polishing (just a few marks left to buff out)
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular140.jpg

i then did a trial of the shape for the supports for the dvd drive
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular146.jpg

and marked out the rest for cutting
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular141.jpg

cut
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular147.jpg

filed
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular148.jpg

and then i just quickly polished 1 for your viewing pleasure.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular150.jpg

on monday i will get on with the black bits for the supports of the dvd.

i also got the other alu and the acrylic i needed ordered.

oh dear i seem to have exceeded my monthly bandwidth on photbucket!!! lol (over 215,000 pic views since this started! i think its popular!) so im going to have to wait untill sunday night to upgrade to pro as i dont fancy making a new free account and uploading all the photos and putting them back into the pl so ill just have to upgrade and see how it goes! then i cant run out of bandwidth! i mean come on i got through 25gb (145,000 views) bandwidth in like 2 weeks and i got through 70,000 views in the first week!!!

well I got some more bolts to do this project

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular153.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular154.jpg

I then picked up where I left off on friday, the dvd supports,

I marked out the black pieces
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular155.jpg

Then all cut
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular156.jpg

If you want a really high gloss finish on the plexi edges after you wet sand and buff run a lighter flame along the edge, you will get an awesome high gloss finish. Practice on a scrap piece first, you don't want to burn the plexi.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular163.jpg

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular168.jpg

i then got the third support for the dvd drive done
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular170.jpg

and then the fourth
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular171.jpg

this is pretty much how it will look just with the dvd housing raised a bit
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular172.jpg

and that is unfortunately all we have time for.

Hey there,

Today i received a few more goodies a holesaw set (not including a 114mm holesaw but will be buying one soon) a roll of sandpaper and a 4" drill vice.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular173.jpg

So i then took my 2" holesaw and got to work on the feet for the main case so here we go

cut and sanded

polished

you'r kiddin right?
i would lose my mind drilling all of them...
if you have a stand alone drill, or more powerfull hand drill in would suggested you to try and cut them three or four at the same time.

They'll be 100% the same, without any hard sanding!:)

x06jsp
07-30-2008, 06:51 PM

Update time...

ok guys well i didnt get much time to mod on modularis as i have been working on deans pc343 that i will be updating tomorrow.

But i did get this done...

i mounted the feet to the main mobo module
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular208.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular209.jpg

and lined up against the pump housing
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular210.jpg

then i got to making the supports for joining the two modules together i have now made 2 of the 3...
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular211.jpg

Thats it for today and i will have updates for both deans pc343 and modularis tomorrow. im quite busy atm what with these 2 (deans is going tomorrow) razers feet and designing my next case planning my girlfriends case and i am also starting a design for another customer case but if you would like any modding/custom feet/or custom case built my pm box is allways open

ok well i started out today as most of you know finishing off deans case then once that was finished i got on with modularis again. and this is what i got up to.

i started by polishing the 3 supports for holding the pump housing to the mobo housing
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular215.jpg

and this is how it will be mounted
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular213.jpg

and mounted
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular216.jpg

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular217.jpg

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular218.jpg

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular219.jpg

and as you can see it is quite sturdy
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular221.jpg

then i realised this is quite heavy so went to the scales...
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular223.jpg
and note this is withought the fronts and backs, without a load of acrylic and without hardware this will be a very very very heavy case!!!

then for a change i thought i would get the psu mounting sorted
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular224.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular225.jpg

and thats all for this week

hope you enjoyed it i know i have.

Hi guys im back with another installment.

well first off i started out making the support for the dvd drive
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular226.jpg

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular227.jpg

i then got it joined up to the front and the front to the rest of the housing
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular228.jpg

and i secured the feet to the acrylic support underneath
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular229.jpg

i then secured the removable panel of the psu housing to the rest of the module
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular230.jpg

so now tomorrow i will work on supports for these parts...
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular231.jpg

Ok guys got a small update for you today...

I started off by fixing the mobo tray on to the backplate and the back plate onto the rest of the mobo module
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular242.jpg

I then marked the acrylic for the window for cutting
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular243.jpg

and cut it to size
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular244.jpg

I then just tweaked the frontplate of the hdd module to fit better
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular246.jpg

and secured it
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular245.jpg

Hey guys,

Got a small update for you today (tiny compared to the work put in!)

I started off today by joining the backend of the psu housing onto the rest of it and then using bodyfiller to fill any unsightly gaps
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular248.jpg

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular249.jpg

I then looked at my dvdhousing and thought ill do the same to that!

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular250.jpg

I then got to sanding and was left with this for the dvd housing
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular251.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular252.jpg

This is bassically so that the rivets wont show up when this is painted giving it a cleaner look and also fills any imperfections around the edges of the housing.

And thats if for another day :D

small update :D

i finished filing and sanding the outside of the fan grill and i must say it looks amazing in person i looked at it and i though to myself it looks like syrillians work!!! :thumb: so im happy with it quite possibly the best polished bit i have got on this

The pic doesnt do it justice but i should have my digi slr back soon!
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular264.jpg

then i gave the inner bits a quick sand and wire wool its way too small to polish properly so this will do for me
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular266.jpg

and where it will be (obviously there will be a 114mm hole cutout there but as of yet i havent recieved my holesaw from ebay!!!! its been 2 weeks and they are apparently sending another

And attached
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular283.jpg

I then got out the holesaw and after that and some filing and sanding i was left with this

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular284.jpg

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular285.jpg

I have decided not to use this fan grill on the front of this but i will use it on the front of the hdd cage :D

I first joined the front panel to the main motherboard housing so that is another of the modules nearly finished
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular300.jpg

and then i thought hey i will have a go at etching but.......... i used a sharpened nail strapped to a screwdriver just like i did in college for an art piece and this is what i cam out with its going to be the window of the front panel

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular301.jpg

And guys i have found out how much fan grills will be if i want them laser cut so if anyone wants to put their name down for one or some then pm me as the price differs a lot depending on how many i get made and i will only get as many as i can get sold :D

Thats it for today

Yep although it doesnt have to be a screwdriver you could use a pencil as they are just to make it easyer to hold the nail as if you were trying to etch wih just a nail you would get cramp in your hand but if you use it with a pencil or something then you are less likely to get cramp.

Well guys im back for another bigger update :D got lots of time to mod today so i used it

Firstly i added in a set of lights that my dad had in the garage roof so that i could see better (they are very very bright and give off a lot of heat so thatll be good for winter :D)

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular304.jpg

I then mounted up the front window after some alterations to the size of it so it didnt interfere with any mountings
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular302.jpg

Then i started mounting up the top window
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular303.jpg

and then got that finished so that is now a finished module :D
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular305.jpg

I then turned my attention to the hard drive module and made the fan hole
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular308.jpg

I then mounted up the fangrill with a fan for good measure
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular309.jpg

I then sought about mounting the hdd caddy
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular310.jpg

And that then meant that i have finished another module :D
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular311.jpg

And sooooo i moved on to my psu module... and i didnt like the bondo/body filler on there so i scraped it off :D

I then cut some mesh out

Then i cut a hole in the side panel of the psu housing
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/modular315.jpg

and then mounted the mesh to it with some m3 socket head screws

and that is what i did today :D

Hopefully there will be more tomorrow

This really just keeps getting better and better. I can't wait to see it finished. I am still wondering how you will manage cabling through all the modules lol.

The soldering iron is your friend mate lol. Try to rig everything up via molex connectors or quick release connectors. Will make your life 10 times easier lol. Just a bit more soldering though.

are you using split-loom or regular casing? also, see if theres an alternative to the molex connectors thats smaller and less noticable, to help keep things clean :)
