Hey I'm looking at putting in a radiator for my soon-to-be water cooling unit. Problem is where to put it! Is it safe to mount a radiator anywhere near a PSU? Also, is it a good idea to mount a radiator on the floor of the case? I've seen it done a few times but heat rises, just doesn't sound safe.
What I wanted to do was fit a Black Ice GTS240 to the roof of the case, which would also take up an empty 5.25" bay space; but with my case the PSU sits at the top, and the clearance between the two would be all of 25mm! I'd prefer an internal radiator, but what would be my best option? Any help would be appreciated.
well a radiator at the bottom is a great place. if you have enough air intake underneath it. i build a system for a friend in a thermaltake armor+ case with the raddy at the bottom and he´s temps was about 30 C with a 80W athlon dualcore, and around 40 with a 125 W quadcore... so thats a god place:) just make the fans blow upwards.
and you could place it in the top, but then you would pull the hot air from the case through it, so you would need a better airflow then in the bottom:)
and if you leak tests your system and builds it well, it is safe to put it anywhere in the case:)
hope you could use it:D

As far as near the powersupply as long as it's not in a position to leak directly on to the capicator yor fine. So anywhere next to and below it rules out any sort of danger from that.

Okay I'm having some clearance issues with this radiator on my case floor, too close to my motherboard. If I was to cut a hole in the case floor so I could mount it underneath my case, am I able to get case feet or something to lift the case up a bit higher to accommodate for the radiator?

I have a big question that I have been pondering. Couldnt you use an old transmission fluid cooler or motorcycle radiator from a scrap yard for like 5 bucks instead of paying a bunch of money for a rad made specifically for computers?
radiators in computers are the same as many other applications, only powder coated and tapped for g1/4 fittings. some people do use car, machinary, or motorcycle radiators.
