Hey there guys,

Im back again with another mod, This is Midnight sparkle that i am doing for my girlfriends new computer.

as usual its a scratch build.

Here is the initial design which changes a bit as you will see very soon(im not doing another version you can see in the pics)
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/sarahcase.jpg

I started off this long day of modding by clearing stuff a bit so that i have room to mod again

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle007.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle008.jpg

And on with the modding :D
(sorry for the blurry pic...)
I started by cutting apart my old case to give me a mobo tray and a template for the psu.

mobo tray cut down

I then cut the 2 bits of alu that i need for the main body of the mod

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle010.jpg

and bent the longer bit to shape

and glued
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle028.jpg

i didnt get to file, sand and polish them today but i will get that done tomorrow and then i need to order more bolts and get some more rivets tomorrow so that i can get this done. this will be one very quick mod butttt i did work on this from about 10:00-18:30 with a 1 hour break in the middle hence why i got a lot done :D

and just to give you guys some perspective of size this is smaller than the mobo section on modularis :D

Check in tomorrow

On with the next update :D

Here is the slot loading dvd drive that i will be using in this case for my girlfriend with the adapder and mounting system attached
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle029.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle030.jpg

I went over to my local screwfix and picked up some bolts and rivets
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle031.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle032.jpg

I then got the back mounted on to the case
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle033.jpg

Then the window
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle035.jpg

I then got around to mounting the dvd drive i clamped the support on the outside and drilled through
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle036.jpg

And mounted
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle037.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle038.jpg

Front cut for the dvd drive
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle039.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle040.jpg

And mounted :D
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle041.jpg

All that is left to do now is mount the feet cut a fan hole in the front and maybe make a fangrill and then sort out mounting for the laptop hdd and drill the hole for the vandal resistant switch :D then its done

Ok guys update time :D

i started by finishing off the filing on the dvd drive cutout as it didnt fit as flush as i wanted it
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle043.jpg

i then got on with mounting the feet
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle046.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle045.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle044.jpg

I then looked at how i was going to mount the hdd and thankfully it had some easy mounting holes on the bottom that fit m3 bolts luckily i had some so i got drilling
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle047.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle048.jpg

I used some rubber grommets under the hdd to eliminate vibrations
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle049.jpg

And here she is all mounted up
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle050.jpg

I then got on with the front panel and i decided to use the same fangrill design as i did on modularis but this time straight on the alu to give a cleaner look
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle051.jpg

Holes for cutting drilled
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle052.jpg

and then roughly cut
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle053.jpg

After a while of filing we have this
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle054.jpg

I then got on with cutting the mounting hole for the power button
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle055.jpg

I then cut one of my spare clear discs to act as a mounting disc for the power switch
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle057.jpg

Case assembled
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle059.jpg

and here she is with the hardware installed
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k173/jingerjosh/midnight%20sparkle/midnightsparkle061.jpg

I would have waited untill after paint but i cant seem to get hold of my airbrusher at the moment so its staying put untill i get in touch with him.

Hope you like it :D

That looks really nice. It's very clean and almost minimalist but at the same time it's got all the elements a custom case needs. I can't wait to see it painted. You have insane metal skills. +rep
