I did a Google search to download a copy of VLC player. And came across some website hawking copies of VLC Player 2009. When i clicked to download it prompted me to register for an account of somesort. I backed out and found the Old VLC website i was familiar w/ instead. I tried to find VLC 2k9 again but it wont' show up in a google search.

Anyone know if it's legit or is it likely a fake as I assumed? VLC is open source isn't it? I can't imagine then asking me to register to download their software.

VideoLAN is a software project, which produces free and open source software for video, released under the GNU General Public License.

that was a fake. there's lots of product sold on the net like that. Spybot, dvdshrink...

Thanks, That what I figured. I was just thrown off because it popped up first on a google search. I guess I shouldn't rely on google as much as i do.
