Hi peoples hope you are all oki.

I just had a quick question for you all.. I'm wanting to configure a pen stick so it cant be formatted and the data cant be deleted off it but people can read off the device.

and the next important point is that it must work from pc to pc.

iv looked on the internet what shows apps to install on a computer to stop it being wrote to but this is useless because i don't normally have that right on the pcs. there is also the hardware lock on the outside of some devices what i find pointless because if someone gets there hands on it they can slide it down and then use it to there hearts content.

I have also found the ability to change the format of the removable stick from the standard FAT32 to NTFS, my guess is that i can set permissions to set this out.

has anyone else considered this or put any research into it?

any feed back would be fantastic, thanks :)

maybe write to it, open it up, lock it and remove the slider so it cant be unlocked? but do it in such a way that you can unlock it if need be

ah good stuff, it sounds like it could work. the only problem is that it can be hard to do. trying to put it back together might be a problem. also it wouldn't be a time efficient way of making read only drives on the fly.

Thanks for your comment tho, interesting idea
