When I first got this computer I had a very limited budget and could only afford to get a Gigabyte P35-DS3 (because I was getting a recently dropped price Q6600). I've been needing to get a new motherboard because I knew that once Skt 1156 came out, at least all of the high end versions of the motherboards would be discontinued almost instantly. I finally was able to get the funds to get a new motherboard. I went to 2 stores and tried to get a new motherboard. All of the motherboards I wanted were out of stock and discontinued, and the only one they did have was out of my budget and I didn't want because it lacked dual gigabit lan ports... so it looks like I'll be selling this computer off to fund a new one at some point. :(

crenn did you check MSY or PCCG? they usually have everything, really the only PC stores I use in Oz.

Something like this perhaps?

I guess it's kinda stupid spending $220 on a 775 mobo when the i5 mobos are only $130 lol,

MSY was the first place I checked.Unfortunately, I'm going to skip upgrading this system and save up for a Core i5 750 system.

Your system seems pretty damn nice. Why exactly do you need an upgrade?

The motherboard only has 1 PCI-E16x slot. I want to turn this machine into a file server later, and for that, I need another PCI-E16x slot (running between 4x and 8x eletrical).

If I am thinking along the same lines as he is, no, not sli, but the need for pci-e slots for raid/sata controller cards. Those can be damn expensive though, hehe.

NightrainSrt4, damn straight! They can be expensive, but I always have plans. Amusingly, I discovered I have both Parrallel and Serial ports on the back of this motherboard.. something I need for my future projects until I can get a USB adapter!
