The 80% that support it isn't exactly an accurate number.

\/ Yeah, I get it; just pointing that out. Remember, no political debate :)

It's just meant to be funny, but now that you mention it, I don't think its actually possible to know just how many people support it. Polling isn't a precise science. Your numbers and percentages are going to differ wherever you go. But who knows for sure? Maybe it is accurate? Maybe its not? Anyone can throw out a number, but few people throw out a source along with it. Even when they do, people just end it there usually and don't question it. Nobody gets into it, looks at how thorough the poll was done, etc etc.

Anyways, it's the point of the video that's important. The only people who benefit from how health care is now are those who can already afford it and those who are running it. This country needs some compassion for its own people, we need to take care of our sick and our poor and stop thinking about just ourselves. ...we also need to cut back on government spending, maybe then people wouldn't complain as much.

Having grown up surrounded by a state health care system, it still amazes me that the US doesn't have one already - most developed countries do - and I don't see the problem really - yes it'll cost more in taxes, but it'll potentially save you a fortune in insurance premiums etc.

The idea of a country calling itself advanced, civilised and a world-leader when it can't even look after it's citizens just doesn't make sense to me. Worse than can't - is won't....

After an accident caused by a combination of a lunatic dog, a deep frier and steel edged stairs, my (US citizen) wife took a pretty bad fall about 2 years ago - when I said - I'm calling for an ambulance and her immediate response was "We can't afford that" it brought it home how much of a problem it really is - she could have fractured her spine, her neck (went head over heels down the metal edged stairs) and whereas my first reaction was "Lets get you the care you need" her's was "What care can I afford?" - to me, personally, that's just wrong...

Well the big problem is that the US Government spends a lot, and so we're already paying out the kazoo in taxes and thus we don't want to pay even more taxes. I think that's what a lot of people are worried about. But honestly, I think it also has a large bit to do with a lacking of compassion for our fellow countrymen. That and a lot of people just don't like change. That and corporate greed rules our society. Also, people are brainwashed by their televisions and the so many lies it throws out at us on a daily basis.

There is no good reason to not have universal health care. The only reason to not want it is if you can afford it as it is now (not many people can, which is the funny thing since you would think more people would be behind it) and the health care/insurance companies since they make mucho bucks.

I say to my fellow countrymen, have some compassion for others, lets take care of our sick and poor. Are we really so selfish? Besides, EVERYONE, including you, can benefit from universal health care.

There is a huge list of things we already pay for that are similar to this, but I can't remember them all. Anyone want to help out with it? I can think of...

Police
Public Schools

what else? (you should be seeing my point at this point, however)
