Racing on the streets is stupid, lets just say that right now. So don't do it people! Go to a track or something like that instead.
Now for my story. :D
My friend and I we're going down an empty freeway in his 1969 Mustang and we come across these two crotch rockets. Well, one thing led to another and the next thing you know, we're going 110mph and they are SMOKING us. Like hardcore smoking us. Like not even funny smoking us. They were out of view in about 10 seconds or less and this is a freeway that is just straight and flat as can be. So I'm thinking they were going probably what? 140-160mph? lol insane.

yeah good point dont street race . I love all cars Vetts are my favorite and to
be fair to the ricer that was a Lingenfelter vette so it was even more vette than normal lol .crotch rockets will smoke most i like to go fast don't get me wrong . going 140-160mph on something with a tire about as wide as my foot spooky lol .
Best sleeper car ever:
b0E4X-afkU4
Heheh, love the Volvo.
Liquid makes a good point about the Lingenfelter; they're a good bit more powerful than normal Corvettes...not that normal Corvettes are weak by any means. Call me vindictive, but I just love seeing a ricer get smoked by a real performance car.
Also, @Zephik, yeah, a performance sport bike will absolutely smoke an equivalent performance car. Power to weight, baby, power to weight.
Heck, even just my little old Honda CM400T (definitely not a sport bike, btw) has a power to weight ratio about equivalent to a Porsche 911 (according to these people's chart (http://www.strikeengine.com/performance-car-specs-0-60-0-100-power-weight-top-speed.html); I don't know what year/revision/etc the 911 was), even though I only get ~43 HP (and to be fair I don't know if that's brake or crank; I don't have any way to actually test it; I'm just going off the data listed here (http://motoprofi.com/motospecspictures/honda/cm_400_t-1980.html)).
Oh, but yeah..don't race on roads..it's dangerous and whatnot (legal disclaimer).

another sleeper car. turbo saturn sl2. :P
EDIT: I posted that car cause thats what I drive pretty much, - the DOHC engine (and all the turbo goodies of course), I have a SL1 and it only comes with the single cam. lame, could use the extra 24 hp. maybe I'll do a swap. I love to see turbo'd saturns because it isnt a tuner car, its a freakin saturn lol.

To be honest, even my Sportster will do 0-60 in just over 4 seconds (with me at the controls). The takeoff on most sport bikes is very quick and will post 0-60 in ~3.5 seconds with the right rider.
But, yeah the Vette is fast! DOH! I coulda had a V8!
I remember seeing a group that made an electric sportbike that did 0-60 in 2.5 seconds...I can't imagine doing that on a bike..though I'd love to try :D
0-200MPH in 15 seconds!

and a nice funny vid to round it off

I can't remember which company that is, but I saw them as well.
These guys;
http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/
have an MX bike (their first bike) and are working on a couple of different versions of a street bike. Plus they are right down the highway from me.
Be sure to check out the videos and turn up the sound. It is amazing to me how quiet they are. the Zero MX does 0-30 in 2.5 seconds...

A) those guys are idiots for street racing.
B) those guys are really big idiots for racing a Lingenfelter anything

Aside from the legality, let's say they were racing on a track, why B)? Isn't getting more performance out of your vehicle the entire point of tuning? And what better way to enjoy that performance than by racing it?

Well said Man
I remember in my youth like 15 years ago lol it seems so long ago when you type .
Our local dragstrip is just an 1/8 mile but the owner well i wont say he let us race on it during the day on the weekends but , He knew we were doing it and never said anything everyone used common sense it was a blast .
We would even race each others car .
Nothing like seeing Guy A in a 5.0 and guy B in a 5.0 guy A won they switched cars Guy A wins again .
Its not always the car, the driver is the biggest peformance upgrade you can make,
its all well and good having the power, but if you can't use it, theres no point

I don't see anything wrong with street racing as long as some common sense is involved. Passing other vehicles, swerving in and out of traffic, racing in a moist environment and taking turns are big no-nos but if it's 2 in the morning with no one ahead of me on a nice straight... I'll have my fun.

here ya go... Cummins-powered Corvette
X7r0fQMULVw
and a 3/4-ton twin-turbo duramax runs a 10.4 in the 1/4 mile. not bad for a 5500-pound truck

I saw this at a drag race once that was awesome .
The other thing is where the drag race was is pretty small they have a drag strip a store and a motorcycle plant .
The place is so small that the fence is way to close to the track .
A friend and me went right up to the fence when they would launch the top fuel dragsters and go by it would rock you back on your heels that was the best sensation i have ever felt in my life.
Well except for ahhhhhh forget it lol it was sweet
