Do you like the way WoW looks but the way Diablo plays? Well good news for you then! Torchlight is exactly that. Seriously. You could not splice the two games better in that way any better than Torchlight has. It looks like WoW, but it's setup just like Diablo. It. Is. Awesome.

MMO version coming within a year or two. I'd imagine we'll have D3 by then though. But until then, enjoy.

Somebody has GOT to hack this and make it online. It's supposed to be a really open and customizable game I think I read somewhere?

Yep, it looks pretty much just like WoW. Personally, I like that sort of art style. I don't necessarily prefer it, but I also don't think it takes anything away from the game either. But some people don't like it, which is understandable I suppose. One nice thing about the way this game is made though is that you can play it on just about any system out there. They even have a "netbook mode" under the graphics option.

In other news, some of the people who helped create Diablo also helped create this game. That would explain why it feels and sounds so much like Diablo.

Here is a short HD Youtube clip from Pax 2009. You get in-game footage at about 45 seconds in and the video is only a minute and a half long. The gameplay really doesn't look that bad or too "cartoony". It actually looks better than the original Diablo games in my opinion. Well, except for the video's and what-not. But c'mon, what game can compare to Diablo's videos? They were amazing.

Edit: Oh yea, also, if you're a fan of blood and creatures exploding, this game has that. It's strangely satisfying to blast an enemy with a spell or a hammer and watch them explode in a shower of blood. lol

I'm loving this game as well!

Not very far yet (only on level 4 or something), but one thing I'm disappointed with is the music/sound.. VERY MUCH LIKE DIABLO. It almost seems as if they ripped the soundtrack from that game for this one. (Apparently it was the same composer who did both)

The ability to zoom in to character level while playing is cool too! You can get a whole new appreciation for the character models and the environment, or zoom back up for an iso/overhead view, ala Diablo.

Get it! Easily worth the money!

Playing the demo, and it's pretty good. Not sure what I'm gonna get for my next big RPG, but this is in the running...
