Neat little thing from Intel to rate your PC's abilities.

Heheh...my older hardware beat you by .1! Hoorah! for overclocking.
I have a feeling that even a 9.9 would say "Your old PC is holding you back!" since this is an Intel advertisement. Asking Intel if our PC's are up to par is like asking a car mechanic if there's anything wrong with our car or asking a dentist if there's anything wrong with our teeth...there's always going to be something.

Only works on InHell processors. Oh well, my Phenom II is plenty fast.

Two down, one to go. I'm at work with my Laptop and Netbook - the desktop will have to wait until I get home in about 6 hours....
Laptop - Acer Aspire 6930 w/ Vista Home Premium 32bit....
http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/slaveofconvention/imagestore/inteltest-laptop.jpg
Netbook - Acer Aspire one A150 w/ 7 Ultimate 32bit & 1GB Ram upgrade....
http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/slaveofconvention/imagestore/inteltest-netbook.jpg
Ironic - the ONLY thing the netbook gets used for most of the time is Music and Video while I'm at work, and it does it flawlessly lol - I'm thinking this tool is of no use whatsoever except to compare one PC to another - not an accurate rating of a PC's capabilities....

I've got a 7.7 too http://service.intelcapabilitiesforum.net/rankmypc/Intel/result.action?sysInfoId=24574
I'm with mDust, I think this is really more of a "you need to get an i7!!!11one!!!eleven!!lol!" than anything else, because my admittedly rather old PC is definitely not holding me back :P
EDIT:
Also, I love how they rank the ability of a system for "Music and Movies on the Go" even after identifying it as a desktop :P

I got a 6.1 for my desktop:Q6600 @ 3GHz

8.1 for my q9550
PC Type Desktop
ProcessorIntel Core 2 Quad processor Q9550
Memory 8.0GB
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
I clicked the upgrade button.. and movies and music on the go is better on the i7 how the heck does it make it better over a dual core cpu no diffrence in music an movies :p
talk about trying to make stuff look better then it is..
Hahahaha, you know, looking back at the stuff they rated...I don't actually use this computer to do any of those things :P (Well, ok, sometimes HD video, but usually lower res).
EDIT:
Also interesting that if I click the 'upgrade' button, the C2Q that they tell me to upgrade to (Q8400) is weaker than the one I have (Q9450). I would love to find out what exactly it's even looking at...I wonder if I can catch the java applet it sends you...hmm, I think I'll try that in the..mm...looking like afternoon, once I get up..after I go to sleep...

Likewise. My gaming rig is under My System - dual-core 4400+, two gigs, pair of 8800GT/512s. It's not 'holding me back' yet, though the CPU might be once I get GTA4.
The laptop's a 1.73 Core Duo, gig of RAM, and awful onboard video... it does music, movies, and such just fine. It can't play any games more intensive than The Sims 2, the battery's not even good for ten seconds anymore - literally, so it's 'holding me back' a bit - but not in any of the categories they mention, in which any system from the last five years or so will be fine.
Oh, and that tool won't rank the laptop. Screw 'em.
It's all marketing, but it's not even remotely informative marketing. Look out! Don't step in the marketing! (http://www.dansdata.com/gz017.htm)

Oh my goodness. http://service.intelcapabilitiesforum.net/rankmypc/Intel/result.action?sysInfoId=24711
...I wonder if the other 2GB of RAM I'm lending my bro would have helped my score at all. I certainly can tell the difference between having 2GB as opposed to 4GB in this thing.
for some strange reason i can't bench the system, and so you know, the thing with this applet is, its not really benching your system, its looking at your system specs, and seeing how intel mark it up against there other products???? its not a real test.
Futuremark (Or madonion as i call them, anyone remember that name?) do a good set of benchmark tests.

Your ram isn't going to affect that score. I know because I checked the difference.

It won't work for me, either. Yes, I have an Intel system. Mebbe it's cause my machine kicks too much arse :P

My quad core Q6700 at 2.75Ghz with Radeon 4870 and 8GB ram got 6.8 - apparently it isn't really powerful enough for editing photographs - I'm calling this one utter bs lol
haha lol.. skip test, and show upgrades... yeah, beacuse you NEED TO UPGRADE TO OUR NEW PRODUCTS! NAO! :D

Not that I'm calling this thing legit, but my older, overclocked hardware "scored" better than some newer hardware and rigs with twice the amount of ram...so it's got to be doing some calculation and not just looking at specs.
And even if you have the newest i7 OC'd beyond Intel's wildest dreams, this thing would tell you to buy another Intel system...
