So, I was playing L4D2 earlier. We were playing scavenge and I was spitter. I had ignited one can already. I was far away from survivors, but they were going to put cans in the generator. I spit horizontal, the spit went max distance, then landed on the generator. I had the highest score on my team and the round had barely started, but I got kicked. Total morons. I'm a good player. I would say in the 90th percentile, but that game is one that requires teamwork, and a bad team can make the best players look bad. The thing was that here I was the only one with anything on the board and I hit my mark. They didn't even wait to see that I did it right, they just kicked me.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr . . .

Similar reasons as to why I never got into L4D1 other than single player. I didn't have 3 other buddies to always play with so . . . ya, pugs suck.

Sad to see it continue with the new game. Then again things like that, or worse, seem to be present in any online multiplayer game.

You sure it wasnt just coz they had someone they knew wanting to join? i see that happen a lot.
But i agree, i have had some really bad games due to the players, the funniest being someone calling me a noob the day after the game was released....lol.

I had been playing with them before, and quit because they were awful to play with. There are always those people who complain if you don't have a headset, they talk the whole time, they think they know everything but can't play worth crap, and you can't understand a thing they say because the mic isn't close enough to their mouth.

They weren't waiting for anyone they just thought that I was the one that sucked. I would like to mention that these are the sort of people who spawn as soon as they can and then attack, instead of waiting for team mates and waiting til the last possible moment so you aren't heard.

/\ That.

That's why I have never seen the appeal of any online multiplayer games. As I have said many times before, as a rule (present company excluded), people suck.

I prefer multiplayer over singleplayer myself, mainly because AI opponents are too easy and its more satisfying when the face you just melted belongs to a real person.

That said, yeah, people suck and it takes a lot of time and patience to find a good crowd to hang out with when you start a new game. Unless you have friends of course.

You need to play it online with friends otherwise people won't work together.

I will say that sometimes I get a group that works well together and we will play for several hours. If the teams are uneven we return to the lobby and go random. Nights like that make up for idiots that kick for no reason.

im one of those ppl who complain if you dont have a headset.... u should always have a headset for ANY FPS game..... especially ones like l4d that require teamwork.... without the time to type more than "lol" and im sorry... but i would kick u if you were the only person without one lol... but yes... there r alota jackasses on there... and the lack of proper server makes it impossible to manage well like CS source.. but its still a great game...

There was only one guy with a mic. As an infected you have 20seconds to type after you die. I also think its worse to micspam like most players do. With some players, you can see the little icon that they are saying something, but you can't hear a word. Other players treat everyone like they don't know anything, but then they run around like idiots wasting time. They don't know the map well enough to make an efficient run and they think letting you stay smoked/pounced is alright while they throw cans.

I would completely disagree about the mic statement. A lot of my best games are ones where none of us have a mic, but just pay attention to one another. The only real benefit is that you can tell people when you are smoked/pounced. Other than that, good players that pay attention are good with or without a mic.

I am with d_stilgar.

I have a headset but almost never use it. Unless there is a match going on, there is always at least 1 person who is playing music constantly or will not shut up long enough to get 2 words in. Other times you will have the server talking about random stuff. I don't even use sound a lot either because of that.

ps. I am not the worst nor am I the best but I can hold my own (at least in css)

I use a mic/headset in L4D2 when I play co-op with my brother-in-law, other than that no. I also occasionally use it in MW2, mostly just the headset cuz the wife doesnt want to listen to it lol. occasionally I'll use the mic If I'm playing with the bro-in-law or doing a team game (Hardcore SD is my fav). but I play a lot of 3rd person cage match, so the mic isnt needed

Well, I have to say most of the jerks have moved on. The game is a few months old now so people aren't as stupid about it and the people who are on just want to play and have a good time for the most part. If you haven't gotten the game yet, or were turned off like me by the morons playing, now is a good time to start playing again.

Have you joined the steam group? i havent really paid much attention to it with all the real life stuff getting in the way lately, but i'll whack a couple of l4d2 games on the calander so we can get some decent vs matches on the go.

EDIT: Ok, got a couple of events in for sunday, hope the times are ok for everyone not in the uk...lol.

And as ever, if anyone wants to be an admin on the steam group, just pm me here!

I go by Bonedaddy, my steam ID is adventrising. http://steamcommunity.com/id/adventrising. The thing I've really learned is to encourage other people to not be jerks. Laughing at the other team when they suck. Kicking because someone is a noob. If people suck then give them an opportunity to get better. Help them. It will make your gaming experience so much better later on.

Also, if a team gets massacred I try to encourage everyone to go back to the lobby and switch to random just to change things up a bit. If both teams are cool and respectful (it only takes one guy per team with a mic to keep people from being A-holes) then people will stay even if they are losing.

I agree with that for any multiplayer server. It is even better if there is someone with admin to kick the a-holes. The ones that are there to be like that are only going to get worse when you ask them to cool it or just to leave. At least in servers i've played in.

I don't entirely agree with vote-kick and vote-ban although they can be effective in needed situations without an admin.

Most people will tell you just to mute them but what are you to do if everyone is jabbering? I know i'm not going to mute everyone just so i can hear the game.

i play CS:S and CS alot, at one point i think i was banned from about 16 different servers on CS as i was basicly too good,

i remember one day me and my bro went on this server on CS:S, it was a clan server, they were prepearing for a clan game, me and bro joined the T's as did everyone else that wasn't in the clan, the entire clan was CT.

Basicly our entire team was getting wipped out everytime except me and bro, between me and bro we were kicking there ass's, then they get all high and mighty about "Do you know who we are? where %^%$£^ clan" , so we got banned, our ip released, i went back on a while back, and got banned in the first round!

oh, i forgot to mention, i was in SNGN, i great group of lads, we ran our own servers, were the mose popular for CS, was always full but there were reserved slots for some of us.
Was going really well till the parent company got bought out and SNGN lost all its funding, the servers were then put on a few peoples home servers, but eventually it got disbanded.
