Anyone know of anywhere that you can buy a computer/laptop and do paymet plans? I'd love to get a $1200 laptop and make payments till it's paid off. They could even hold on to it till it's paid off

Home Shopping Network has something similiar with 4 payments of $287.

A lot of online stores support Bill Me Later. Just choose that as your payment method and sign up for it. As long as you make your first 6 payments on time there is no interest for 6 months. Miss a payment though and they add all that interest back on...even if you're on month 7. It's easy and straight forward though. I bought one like that years ago.

Dell does with approved credit but you get hit hard if you're late.I bought 2 Dimension 2400 a few years ago and probably paid another $400, (my fault really got dates mixed up some months) could of bought something a little better for myself with that wasted $$.

I wonder if Newegg does...

Yep, I went to newegg to check, but as soon as the page loaded I saw the Bill Me Later sign. Look at the eggs at the top, then the blue bar below it and all the way to the right side in that blue bar...it's a link to more info about it.

Assuming "decent" means more than a GeForce 9400 (ie, an ION system), not gonna happen. There's just not enough of a market for it atm, and even if it were done, it would probably be about 2" thick to deal with all the components and cooling. Oh, and it would probably cost ~$3000-$4000.

Not totally true. Alienware has an 11" that will play games at fairly decent settings. It has a GeForce GT 335M, which is pretty good considering max res will be 1366x768. I found a decent review (http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/23/alienware-m11x-review/) of it. It looks like you are really held back by the CPU, but it is overclockable to some degree.

I configured this and the subtotal was $999.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Come to think of it, I think someone else might make a small laptop with a GT335M...

All I play is Oblivion anyway and I'm sure it can do that.

i know my little macbook pro handles games decently.... 13in... but ill probbably get yellled at someone for being a noob and having a mac on a pc modding forum. lol. I can run Halo 2 and bioshock (1+2) no prob on med - high settings... but damn it gets hot... If you go that route i would set it on a cooling pad or, in my case, plop it on top of an old AMD heatsink.

I just ordered the Alienware M11x with:

Cosmic Black
Intel Core2 Duo SU7300 1.3GHz (3MB Cache, 800MHz FSB)
2GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1066MHz (I will upgrade to 8GB soon)
11.6-inch WideHD 1366x768 (720p)
1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M
160GB SATAII 5,400RPM (for me this is tons)
AlienFX Color, Plasma Purple

http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp143/TheGreatSatan/m11x.jpg

Total after shipping is around $900. I paid $200 up front and the rest will be no interest, no payments for 6 months. I will be making payments of a little more than $100 for each month till it's paid off. It will be paid off before those 6 months are over. I could very easily pay it all at once, but I don't want my wife to know the total. It's easier to leech a couple hundred out of our account each month instead of the the whole chunk at once.

I never thought I'd order anything from Dell. I'm going to be saying to people: "I don't own a Dell, it's Alienware..."

And then they'll say, "Oh man! That's like 10x worse! I used to think you were cool for building all those cool computers, but now I know you were just trying to be cool like Alienware that whole time. Well here's some news, Alienware sucks! You are a poser!"

I'm kidding! I'm kidding. Alienware laptops come with Bose speakers, so they must be amazing! No, no, no . . . I gotta stop already.

Alienware desktops are pretty darn expensive for what you are getting, but the new cases look so good. If I had tons of money (it would have to be quite a bit) I would definitely get the Aurora ALX. It's so sexy, yes sexy.

Congrats on the buy. That's the laptop I would get if I had the money. That or a souped up M15x, but those get spendy really fast.

I was hanging by a thread, but then saw the backlit keyboard! Then you could pick between six different colors for no additional charge. If only the casing was available in the LED colors too....

It's called open a savings account.

Seriously go to your local bank, or ING Direct and open a savings account. Most decent backs have automatic savings plans you can setup transfer a set amount from a checking or other bank account into savings once monthly. Especially because you are willing to not have what you are buying until it's paid for why not just save money and then wait. Plus you get into the habit of saving and save money until the next time you want a large purchase like a TV, lawnmower, or whatever. Not to mention if you buy something now but don't get it paid off until a few months later and then get to use the computer there will be a better one available.

Saving is not a problem. I have over 13K sitting in my checking account.

I'd like something like that, but more subdued. A little 11" with a decent low end gpu would be nice. The intel in my 13" macbook just doesn't cut it, but then again I didn't buy it for gaming, but it would be nice sometimes.

My old 17" HP with 7300GS ran Oblivion fine (albeit low settings), but was just too large.

Hmm. . . great, gotta get this lust for more tech out of my head.
