Does your dad need a GTX 260M?
PS: that 2nd laptop is cheaper at Amazon with free shipping too.

haha I noticed that after I posted. He doesn't necessarily need the GPU but for another 30 bucks its a lot more of a laptop. lol He mainly wants it to stream videos to his tv in the basement, and for just general websurfing/laptop stuff.
I figure the recertified one will future proof him a bit since my dad probably won't buy another laptop for a long time. his old laptop is ancient. lol
EDIT: Farlo, what model did ya get?

Right on. My dad went with the a52 after I noticed that the Recertified one came with win vista instead of 7. haha not worth the trouble.

You still get a warranty right? There is no guarantee that any hardware, even brand new, will always be flawless so I say go for it, as long as you have a money back guarantee for at least a limited time....

Never bought a re-certified laptop from them but I will vouch that Asus' warranty people are tops in my book had my mobo fixed and shipped back same day they received it.

Yes, my wife's laptop is a Asus Refurb. It's been at least 2 years with no problems.

Ok, good to know. I know for my next laptop purchase, it will be an ASUS for sure.
